Allow for multiple types of sanction cards
That way you could have a 50%, a -50%, and a 100% or some combo like that

Mods! Unity!

Is this a late Christmas 2016 present or a super-early Christmas 2017 one?

Incredible update, Fizzer!

I am very excited about mods! Fizzer, how deep will the modifications be able to go?Wuld we be able to:
- add different kinds of commanders
- modify the way turns happen so that it is now turn based instead of simultaneous? AKA we have to wait until the opponent takes all of his turns (I know this takes us back to normal Risk)

YES!

I'm so looking forward for this.

I just have one request: Please Fizzer, do NOT rush this.

I'd rather have a polished, perfectly running Unity version of Warlight(or is it Warzone now?) with a lot of new features and gamemodes that would come by the end of 2017 rather than a rushed buggy version that would come sooner.

the problem i have with mods is that if you post a game with modes on the open games tab and a noob joins, he'll have no idea whats happening, to solve this i think mod games whould be invite only

^^ Either that, or a certain level requirement.

Not an issue, chuck norris. Happens today already with new settings such as commanders. Everyone is a noob in the beginning but we all learn after a while. Game creators will have to specify what mod it is.

I would like to suggest a game setting where the number of turns is pre-determined. The winner would be the one who expanded his empire the most. Its not necessary to have world domination winner takes all.

Interesting thought by SharK ^^. It would also be interesting to see maybe multiple stages? X number of turns in a period then maybe some type of advancement to the next decade or century. Maybe random probabilities happened in between? Not sure how that could help exactly... it could be interesting as far as RP is concerned? Maybe someone with more creativity could weigh in here. I've only just started playing a few RP games, mainly played on the strategic side.

Might be funny to do that with cards. For example no spy cards until a certain turn, or change percentage of blockade card after X turns.

Interesting stuff.

Does this mean we could finally implement some much-needed additions to Warlight?

For instance, the highest-voted Uservoice suggestion not to receive a "not on the immediate roadmap" comment:

A. Deployment Limits

https://www.warlight.net/Forum/136767-deployment-limits-tactical-warlight

Deployment limits make Warlight better, more fun, more tactical, in almost every respect. (Seriously, if you haven't tried playing with some, you should. We have a growing community who refuse to play any other way.)

B. I also find the options to fool around with Card use interesting. I think an incredibly useful tool would be to include "always on" cards in a map/scenario. Effectively, there is a card which is automatically played by the system every turn. This could have all kinds of interesting uses, like enabling a player to have constant reinforcements, another player to have permanent sanctions, one player that everyone can "see" (a constant Spy card), parts of the map that are visible or revealed (Surveillance or, even better, Fog Cards - https://www.warlight.net/Forum/107556-new-concept-fog-cards), a territory which Blockades itself every turn (you can pass through if you have enough armies, but it will Blockade itself once more "behind you"), and many other possibilities.

^^+1 About the cards. One particular idea I had a few months back was a "Nuclear" card (mainly for diplos). Like a blockade card, except you play it on an enemy's territory. Change the range (just one territory, or the selected territory and all territories that border it? Or even several more layers out) and change the strength (multiply armies by 10, for example, if you want it to be recoverable later on. Multiply by 500 if you want to absolutely level it and render it useless). It would add a nuclear theme to diplomacy games, and you wouldn't necessarily even have to border your enemy to wage war on them. It probably wouldn't be the biggest thing for strategy games, but as someone who plays almost nothing but diplomacy, I would love more than anything to see this card implemented.

For example, say I had the range set to 2 and the strength set to 10 and I decided to nuke Moscow, this is what would happen (before and after, obviously):

@Clint Eastwood - great idea, although it could not be used with commanders. It could be way too powerful and game-deciding, so instead of being able to select what territory you nuke, you could just pick a player and the system will randomly pick a territory to nuke. Or, as a way to balance it, the player who played a nuclear bomb will be sanctioned for the next 2 turns.

For those who are less aware of how big this is, it's huge, seriously. Flash is horrible, we've needed this for a long long time. There will be so much more that can be done once the game is coded in Unity.

Like sooooooo much more.

Good job Fizzer!
