Maybe the amount of threads you create could be limited to say 5 or 10 per day? I don't see anyone needing to create more threads than that in a day.

Either that, or raise the level requirement to a higher level. You don't see many lower levels on the forums anyway, so why not raise it? I believe the requirement currently is 4, correct? You can get to level 4 by winning one, literally just one, 1v1 game.
Fizzer says that custom scenario isn't unlocked until level 47 because he doesn't want to see it abused. Well, it would save him a lot of time and energy if he used the same principle for the forums. Level 4 is way too low in my opinion. I would say somewhere around level 30. There would still be trolls, but at least people wouldn't be creating alts and flooding the forums.
Also, next time, try not to make a post about it. All it does is gives them attention. It's like trying to put a fire out with gasoline.

Edit: Seriously, Fizzer, something needs to be done. One troll is fine. But when they keep doing this over and over and over, it begins to ruin the site.

Maybe give each player the option to set a level requirement for messaging them. For example, a player would have to be level 30 to send you mail if you chose to make the settings that way. Or, if you didn't care about getting spammed, you could just leave it at level one. Regardless, something needs to be done--both about the forums, and private messaging. Both are fixable.

One more way to ensure the forums are useless to all but the top players.

As it is, a newbie who comes to the forum with a genuine question or problem can't get his posting seen because of all the upvoted stale crap that's pushed to the top.
Now you want him to not be able to post at all?

Sadly i'm finding this site more and more frustrating though.

A forum should by definition be open to everyone.
It's primary function should be to inform and help.

Nowadays it's not used for that purpose as established players have been given a virtual monopoly of what is shown.

Remember we never got these spam attacks prior to the changes simply because everyone (even the trolls) got to have their say.

You will always have trolls, it used to be ok since they could get their jollies by posting crap and it never really interfered with the forum being a forum.

Nowadays the only way that they can be heard is by doing stuff like this whilst the people who have been penalized are the casual forum user.

Fizzer is to blame sadly for bowing to pressure from the top players and having taken the time to produce his upvoting system i guess he is too proud to admit his mistake

bottom line though is a forum should be open to all equally and it's simply not as it is

Have downvoting
don't have upvoting.

Then the most recent posts will be displayed regardless of who they are created by and trolls threads can be hidden

indibob maybe you forgot that the upvoting system was actually introduced because of all the spamming back in the day from only 1 or 2 players who spammed like 20 full pages in just a matter of 10 minutes on all different sections of the forum.

the only way it goes down is by it getting downvoted or just no response on the thread at all but usually the last won't happen if it is in the help section of the forum

not true, if i post a new posting most people wont see it. The dashboard is simply just full of upvoted threads which prevents new posts from being seen

As to the reason it was introduced, i'm sorry you are wrong it was introduced because of a few posts about cats.
Yes the forum was full of shit but no, we didnt have mass spamming like we have now, it was all separate postings.

many people already attempted to convince Fizzer of ever implementing a forum thread limit but he won't budge
