@Fizzer...

could we, yanno, have an event where it's possible to get lifetime membership, and have the event last like a week or maybe a few days (and maybe make it expensive asf if you're worried about people not buying monthly memberships if lifetime is too cheap?) just a possiblity, maybe? to celebrate Warlight 2.0 Unity coming out or something? we'll love you 5ever.

also, im disappointed in the low price of starting a new clan. any Tom, Dick, or Harry can currently start a clan. too many clans exist. also, a cap on amount of members might be helpful, maybe? but that could just be for a different thread.

There use to be a lifetime membership option, but then it was removed because it wasn't getting enough revenue or something like that :(

I want the benefits of having a membership. Mostly having an M by my name. And i already bought the color smoky black, so its too late to just play without paying.

Membership used to be quite cheap. I have 5 accounts with permanent membership for that reason. I think the switch to temporary membership probably led to more overall profit, but it also definitely caused some people who'd buy a permanent membership but wouldn't pay every month to just never pay at all.

Well, i would buy like 5 lifetime memberships but wouldnt buy even one month of monthly. I dont pay to play monthly or yearly. If i did that i would play WoW or some other shit. I dont do subscriptions with pay periods.

Just buy ten yearly memberships, that'll last you ten years.

Yeah, 100$ is about what a membership is worth. You can get hundreds of hours of entertainment doing exclusively member things. Compare that to a movie ticket - 5-10$ (plus food) for 3 hours.

@Benjamin628 You can´t compare things that are by essence rather different. And do you really find that Warlight membership offer broad exclusive "member things" - not exactly. And yeah, the Lifetime membership was quite cheap - but somehow it probably did not brought in enough revenue, and if you have almost equally same amount of player who are willing to pay a little more, then obviously it is a way to go.

Second aspect is that if your player-base is growing with small pace as in caseof Warlight, just only 10-15k new registered accounts per month, then you have rather stable players and eventually you have X% of players with lifetime membership and (1-X)% who does not care about it all. You do not want to end up empty handed after all.

Also with Unity 2017 shift, at least Fizzer has in mind giving a new image and maybe more advertising to bring in new players. Lifetime membership in early years of development is like venture investment: "Higher return for higher risk" - in Warligh terms, you may get lifetime membership, but no one grants you that the games will last, but if it does you have a valuable asset in your account.

Lifetime membership was removed because after a certain period of time (if we have ads disabled) it's a net loss for Fizzer/Warlight. He could in theory bring back lifetime membership at a significantly higher rate (such that it's still net profitable given the average lifetime member) but that would require some risk and calculation to work.

@Ben: by your standard, Zoo Tycoon should cost upwards of $100. I got it for $5. You don't use the same customer logic that you do when buying groceries ("These tomatoes will entertain me for a few hours so $20!"), movie tickets ("Rogue One is like 2 hours? $10!"), and cars ("Eh... Ferraris aren't that entertaining- I'll get bored in 200 hours tops- so $1000!").

Im the owner of the smoky black player color, so i cant really judge what is worth and what isnt (i think it was worth it). I wouldnt mind buying lifetime membership if it was like $120. That would be worth. Better than a monthly or yearly membership.
