I don't think they're forbidden. Although i think alts on the real-time ladder tend to deflate ratings over time if they are above average. And since the people using alts on the RT-ladder tend to be above average, they are probably a factor in the deflation of the ratings. How much of a factor they are is vague though; i don't think anybody has done the maths behind that.
That being said, being ranked with multiple accounts on the RT ladder is not allowed, always wait until getting unranked until you play with an alt on that ladder.

Afaik, the rule is just against alts that are concurrently competing/ranked on the ladder. The RT ladder is still probably vulnerable even if the alts aren't actively competing at the same time, since one of them could theoretically inflate the ratings of the other's opponents/etc.

vanelope and phoenix has been reported before, and suspended for abuse at some point, then he stopped using both, and now apparently he's using them again. :/

I think Fizzer's position on alts is :

• Allowed on the 1v1 and RT ladders as long as they are not ranked at the same time.
  
• Allowed on the 2v2 and 3v3 ladders as long as they are on the same team.
  
• Not allowed on the seasonal ladder.

My personal opinion(which means nothing) is that you shouldn't use alts on any ladder as long as you have any account which has unexpired games. This is just a nice way to hack the rating system and gain an undeserved rating. It punishes anyone who has beaten the account that gave up and is harmful for the ladder in the long term. I'd go so far as to say this is as bad as stalling to attain a high rank/gold trophy.

However, the RT ladder is a bit different in the sense that a game never expires. So most people don't have a very strong stance on alts on the RT ladder as far as I know.

BTW, the fact that games don't expire on the RT ladder seems like a big problem.

It's possible to accumulate points on certain templates, go inactive for years, and return with all those points even if the active templates have totally changed.

However, the RT ladder is a bit different in the sense that a game never expires. So most people don't have a very strong stance on alts on the RT ladder as far as I know.

Yeah,that's why I believe that Fizzer should allow games to expire at Real-Time Ladder!

Person A loses to Person B on purpose multiple times over the course of a week.

Person C beats Person B over and over again.

Person A and Person C are the same person.

In theory, the rating sort of "transfers" over from the main account to a medium, and then onto the alternative account afterwards from there on out or vice versa.

But also in theory, nobody really cares so.
