my geographical knowledge was already quite good, thus i still have a certain tendency to call the territories by names that donmt match with the in-game names

Playing games helps for sure!

But in Medium Earth, for example, Tanzania is called Kenya (Kenya is part of the Somalia territory), the one which mostly consists of Zambia is called Botswana (while Botswana is part of the Namibia territory), New Guinea is called "Papua New Guinea" even though the whole island is the territory, and so on.

So don't always take names and locations at face value!
