Have a look at [this game](http://warlight.net/MultiPlayer.aspx?GameID=1771179). my understanding is that you get an extra army for every 2 territories you control, however once you take the whole bonus, those territories do not count towards extra armies.

Have a look at Dante's (blue)income. on turns 3/4 he held denmark and 3 territories in norway (he started their as his second pick) should he not have had 8 per turn? or am i just being thick?

Having looked again - it seems as if only territories gained from the enemy count, and not neutrals. Is this normal?

The income will only start rising once you exceed your base income. In this game, you'll only start getting armies after you hold more than 10 territories (since 10/2 = 5, the base). For example, your income only changed from 12 to 13 between turns 8 and 9, when you've gotten your 12th territory.

Think of it not as

|> income = income_from_bonuses + base_income + number_of_territs_held / 2

but as

|> income = income_from_bonuses + maximum_of( base_income, number_of_territs_held / 2 )

(Where 2 can be any number, depending on the settings, of course.)

Actually, this is not true, the game only looks at the total number of territories you control. It completely ignores which bonuses they belong to, whether you've conquered them entirely, etc.
