Live a good life. If there are gods, and they are just, then they will acknowledge your deeds and welcome you. If there are gods, and they are not just, then you will not want their recognition. If there are no gods, then you will be remembered by the living for your good life.
Socrates didnt write at all and all his techings were written down by someone else. Mostly Platon. He was also very suspicious towards the gods. So chances are high that Aurelius just copied it from Socrates.
