Hello Mapmakers!

I was talking to a clanmate about mapmaking, and in our conversation we came up upon the issue of outdated map versions and saved templates. From what I garner, as long as you don't click on the "choose map" while creating a game with a retired version, you can still create a game on that retired version map. I am not sure if warlight is supposed to be designed with this loophole. Is this a bug?

-Thanks!

  • It does not harm anyone (as retired maps are saved either way),
  • it is extremely useful (In point of fact, my Runescape map project entirely depends upon it),
  • and it has been around for a very long time (see https://www.warlight.net/Forum/49421-make-parallel-version-map)
  • It also allows templates not to break entierly when someone makes a small adjustment to the map.

I honestly even thought this was common knowledge.

Please don't remove it. It will set me back enormously.

I second Mr. Poof. I thought this was well know. Think of it as an intended loophole. While some old maps have been removed, you should be allowed to play them if you know what you are doing. Imagine hitting rematch, and then suddenly the connections where changed! Gives a better user experience too.
