He just has goals that are really, really shitty for a lot of people besides him.

The fact that he inherited North Korea at the age of 27 -- North Fucking Korea, not some tiny island nation nobody cares about -- and six years later he's still not only alive but firmly in charge, still trolling the whole world and threatening to nuke the United States every other week, pretty much proves his intelligence and competence.
