We are trying to have new templates each season to fresh things up (as much as possible). Guiroma 2v2 was used for season 1 of captain's league, so I don't think it will be back this season. We never used 3v3 EU, we'll see if it ends up being voted. I personally prefer using an other 3v3 template because 3v3 EU is so mainstream, trying new things is more fun in my opinion. So we'll see if 3v3 EU makes it, but I am not very fond of it for now.

@plat we still have to vote on the templates, personally, i want to see more standard templates and hope the captain's league turn more mainstream. i hope the other captains agree... but we will be voting on templates shortly, we are still submitting ideas. Guiroma and Europe are both personal favorites of mine though so those will likely have my vote :p

First of all, super entertaining watching the live stream. I watched a good portion of it. Thanks for putting this on captains.

Crazy draft. IMO, of the players I know, there were a ton of reaches and steals, and the talk of trades was fun. Wild stuff. Below is my analysis.

Key:

Steal=Player definitely SHOULD have gotten picked higher
Good value=Player COULD easily have been picked significantly higher, and I wouldn’t bat an eye.
About right=player got picked about in the range they should be picked in. I might take them a little higher or lower, but they are “about right.”
Reach=player got over picked
Huge Reach=Wtf was the captain thinking? I’ll keep these to myself :)

Risky=boot risk
No idea=I really don’t know about this player enough to have an informed opinion

Players picked in higher rounds are more likely to have their label deviate from “about right” if the pick is off by a smaller margin.

Team: DR. Love
1. MoD-about right
2. Master Atom-no idea.
3. AI-about right
4. 13Chris37- I’ve never played with him, but I can still call this a steal. He was a first round picks last year, and has a really high 1v1 ladder ranking.
5. Im a belieber-I haven’t played with him in a while. IDK how good he is now. My gut says this is a reach as belieber is new to the strat community. Maybe Love has played with him recently and knows something we don’t?
6. Semicedevine-Risky, but good value. I’d guess Semice won’t get booted after the public call outs warning him not to get booted. He can occupy a 1v1 slot, and do well.
7. MarkusBM-good value
8. johnMD20-about right

This is the “all over the place” team. Good mix of risky, steals, and reaches.

Team: Aura
1. Buns157-about right
2. Juan-about right
3. Zack Fair-about right. Thanks for spelling my name correctly on the spreadsheet this year captains. :)
4. Sebb-no idea
5. Drizzy Drake-About right. There were some name brands behind him, but he is a good player, and hopefully Aura has some inside info on him.
6. Wakanari-no idea, but seems about right from ladder stats
7. Hunta- no idea, but seems about right from ladder stats
8. Apollo-about right

This is the team of no clans, and the team of Zack doesn’t know them. Looking forward to changing that with you guys! :)

Team: Xeno
1. USA Bitches- About right
2. Pardon 99-good value. Has improved alot in the past few months. Could be a 1st round pick.
3. Nox-good value
4. Master Moto-I’m inclined to say this is a huge steal. But everyone says that Motoki is a big boot risk. Looks like he has a boot rate of under 5%, so I’m not sure where this label came from. I’ll split the difference and say this is a risky, good value pick as I don’t think Motoki would fuck over his clan mate Xeno, but have to be wary of that possibility.
5. Kezzo- about right
6. Platinum - about right
7. Max- about right
8. Phakh Ghokhn - about right

This is the team of brand name clans (turtles, masters, outlaws), and the team of high top-end value. With Xeno on the roster and Motoki trying, they have 5 players who could have gone 1st/2nd round.

Team: Alexclusive
1. Kurdistan-Reach. He’s a good player and I can see why he was picked here, but I’d be beyond shocked if he wasn’t available in the 2nd round.
2. The Warlight Master-Reach. As the founder of Masters, I’’m sure he was once worthy, but he’s been gone for a while, and I’m judging him on how he is playing since his return (really just his MDL stats).
3. Kaerox-about right
4. Master Turtle-Reach. Big member of the community, but there were stronger players available, and he is a boot risk.
5. Tbest.- Steal. Was a 1st round pick last year, and is well known as a good player in the community. I’ve never personally played with him, but his reputations and stats justify the “steal” status.
6. Cluster - no idea. Looks about right from ladder stats.
7. Drunken master MB- about right
8. CJ13-no idea, about right

This is the team of well-liked community members and reaches.

Team: Ben
1. Awesome Guy-about right
2. Green Tea- no idea.
3. Bonsai-no idea. Based on ladder stats, this is a reach. Based on reputation, this is good value. My guess is this is good value and he just doesn’t play the ladders (I don’t blame ya bud. That shit is a commitment.).
4. AOC- good value. I could have even rated this a steal. He is doing great on the MDL, and has a 3v3 trophy. Strong player. Strong team player.
5. 90- steal. I don’t care that he’s only playing 1 game. There are only 3 players who can play 2 games. If the captain intends to play 2 games (and if I know Ben-he does), then every pick after round two should only be allotted to 1 game. 90 should have gone in the 3rd-4th round for sure.
6. Fireice82-no idea, but seems like good value based on rep and ladder stats.
7. Fred-no idea, and his stats are deceiving. 49% 1v1. 46% 2v2. 51% 3v3. But he maxed out at 1865 on the 1v1 ladder.
8. Patriot-no idea. Of course Ben would rep the NWO!

This is the team of late round value. Rounds 4-6 it looks like Ben knocked it out of the park.

Team: Mr. D/Tacky
1. Inside-about right
2. Mifran-about right.
3. Ps-no idea. Never played with him and his stats are all over the place. BUT I’ve got to take this opportunity to give ps a shoutout. Love your videos on the MDL bud. Keep up the good work!
4. Ze-No idea, but looks like good value to me. Possibly even a steal. He has competed at a high level for a long time.
5. Rocky1-good value.
6. Smileyleg-good value.
7. KyJoseph-no idea
8. Privat pabse-no idea

This is the team of NO BOOTS!

I hope you all enjoyed reading this! I’m not going to rank the teams, as there are too many players I don’t know well enough to judge. But you all who know better, go ahead! This season will be fun!

Also, a question for the captains. How was the order of the captains determined?

Fuck it, I'll rank the teams. Probably not super accurate as there are alot of players I am unfamiliar with. To see the in-depth reasons as to why I ranked teams where they are, see my post above.

1. Team Xeno-5 players that arguably can be a 2nd round pick or above. If these players are spread out, all templates can be covered with these top tier players

2. Team Ben- Has the most depth. I don't know his top players as well, but this team is stacked from top to bottom. Will probably have the best team results as they should get input from multiple sources. If Greentea and Bonsai are good picks, this team should really be number 1, but IDK them.

3. Team Mr. Tacky D- Has some heavy hitters at the top, and some depth at the bottom. Also, Tacky's team took the gold last year. He's a good captain. Gotta believe in his picks.

4. Team Dr. Love- Picks were all over the place, but got some good value late, and didn't miss on his early picks.

5. Team Aura-I really don't know my team that well. I hope we are good, but can't rate us higher due to the unknown.

6. Team Alexclusive- I felt alex took people he liked over higher talent. TWM, and MT are both very well respected community members, and Kurdistan is in Alex's clan. I felt all 3 of these guys were taken slightly early.

Wow nice Zack... I'm gonna give some feedback as well since you got the ball rolling ;)

Team: DR. Love
1. MoD- Steal (getting the first pick is a huge plus in this league, and MoD has been picked first every season so far. Even though you can't pick him any earlier, he's still a huge bargain even for the #1 pick.)
2. Master Atom- Reach (Atom is a great player and fairly active but there were better choices even late in the second round. Atom is a 4th round pick imo)
3. AI- Reach (AI is a good player but deserved to be drafted in rounds 5-7 imo)
4. 13Chris37- Steal (Chris is a superb player with loads of experience in very competitive scenes. He is a 3rd round pick imo)
5. Im a belieber- Reach (Very new, inexperienced, but lots of raw talent. Will be interesting to see how he plays, but i think he deserved to be drafted in rounds 7-8) but good value. I’d guess Semice won’t get booted after the public call outs warning him not to get booted. He can occupy a 1v1 slot, and do well.
6. Semicedevine - Risky (Obviously a great player but obviously a boot risk)
7. MarkusBM- Risky (if he can avoid boots this is the best pick of the draft)
8. johnMD20- Reach (even being the last pick of the draft i think there were better players available such as mm3100)

Quick Summary - Could pan out to be one of the best teams of the draft. Or not. Kinda depends on the reliability of Love's late round picks
GRADE C

Team: Aura
1. Buns157- About right (Spectacular player, an obvious second choice, perhaps even first)
2. Juan- Reach (Good team player and lots of activity, but there were lots of other great players still available late second round)
3. Zack Fair- Steal (The best pick of Season 2 comes back strong getting picked early 3rd round. Still, I think Zack would make a good late first round or early second round pick)
4. Sebb- About right (Sebb is a great team player and very reliable, he is a good 4th round pick)
5. Drizzy Drake- Reach (Aura is a little biased but maybe that will help with the chemistry)
6. Wakanari- Reach (Wakanarai is a good player but still other very strong players left late 6th round)
7. Hunta- About right (Good 1v1 player, might be a good filler for the large amount of 1v1 tournaments)
8. Apollo-about right (one of the last picks of the draft, Apollo is very reliable and makes sense to pick)

Quick Summary - Very balanced team, I could see Aura dominating the 2v2s and doing some damage on Africa
GRADE B

Team: Xeno
1. USA Bitches- reach (There were other players who have proven themselves in captain's league, which is a must when it comes to first round drafts imo)
2. Pardon 99- Steal (Even late second round, Pardon is an astounding player and will dominate whatever he plays)
3. Nox- About right (Nox recently has had a lot of success on the 1v1 ladder, but his strengths are actually on volcano island and guiroma imo. That just shows how talented he is..)
4. Master Moto- Risky (They are in the same clan so it may work out. This may turn out to be one of the biggest steals of the draft)
5. Kezzo- Reach (Decent success on ladders, but there were stronger players still left in the draft)
6. Platinum - Steal (Platinum is a great team player, he puts in more effort than most)
7. Max- Reach (Max has done well on mdl and 1v1, but still has a lot to prove)
8. Phakh Ghokhn - Steal (Success and experience are two things Phakh has when it comes to captain's league)

Quick Summary - Lots of steals and reaches seem to keep this team fairly balanced. I am worried that Xeno will have trouble in his team games but he should crush the 1v1s.
GRADE B-

Team: Alexclusive
1. Kurdistan-Reach. (Strong player with lots of recent success, but players like AwesomeGuy and MIFRAN were still available, who are both reliable and have played well in seasons past)
2. The Warlight Master-Reach (Strong player who is inactive but still retains a lot of his talent. I think he was more deserving of a mid-3rd round pick)
3. Kaerox- About right (Great player, picked maybe a tad early but a late 3rd round pick makes sense)
4. Master Turtle-Reach (Boot risk and not a lot of competitive activity lately)
5. Tbest.- Steal (Superb player, he can help carry a team or dominate 1v1s. Even though he was picked 5th round I would expect he get 2 tournaments.
6. Cluster - Reach (Decent player deserving a 7-8 round pick)
7. Drunken master MB- About right (Good player who is reliable and can secure more than a couple wins on 1v1s)
8. CJ13- about right (not a lot of success on 1v1 ladder but seems reliable which is all you look for in an 8th round pick)

Quick Summary - A little biased, and a lot of old talent mixed with new. Will be interesting to watch, but I think this team will struggle
GRADE C-

Team: Ben
1. Awesome Guy- Steal (One of the best players in the League, it is a surprise to me he came so late in round 1)
2. Green Tea- About right (Green Tea imo deserved a late 2nd round early 3rd round pick, but Benoit made a good pick here as Green Tea helps balance the team a lot, where 1v1 players are needed)
3. Bonsai- Reach (Very good player but there was still lots of other talent to consider before bonsai late in the 3rd round)
4. AOC- Reach (aoc is a very good player who excels in team games and has been playing very well on MDL. Still, there was lots of strong talent still available that should've been considered first)
5. 90- steal (only 3 players will get two tournaments, so anything after the 4th round the player should be expected to only play one. very strong team player but his activity is a worry)
6. Fireice82- steal (it is a huge surprise but also a testament to the strength of the draft that fireice was drafted so late)
7. Fred- steal (active player that has been competing in Division A of clan league for awhile now)
8. Patriot- About right (reliable and thats all you need here :D)

Quick Summary - A little bias is evident but also some great early picks and a superb late round picks (5-7)
GRADE B

Team: Mr. Dolphin
1. Inside- Steal (The amount of underestimation this man gets is insane. He has dominated everything he plays and is extremely reliable. Defending champ, I think he deserved the 2nd or 3rd pick)
2. Mifran- Steal (Very reliable and has been competing on a high level for years now. Has dominated just about everything he has played, and was deserving of a first round pick imo)
3. Ps-Steal (he was the MVP of the Manager's League, also has lots of experience with odd templates (has been playing rtl and mdl for awhile now, also hosted WGL and has analyzed thousands of games)
4. Ze-Reach (Ze is a great player who has been playing at a high level in clan league for years now)
5. Rocky1- About right (Activity is an issue but rocky1 is a great player and syncs well with every team he's on)
6. Smileyleg- Steal (smileyleg is a 4th or 5th round talent imo, he has had lots of success on seasonal ladders and 1v1)
7. KyJoseph- About right The dark horse of round 7 ;)
8. Private Pabse- About right (Decent player who has decent ladder stats)

Quick Summary - Lots of really good early picks, and a few dark horses (ps, kyjoseph) who will hopefully prove me right :D
GRADE B

RANKING OF TEAMS

1. Mr. Dolphin's Team (May or may not be a little biased)
2. Ben's Team (Well balanced, it is obvious Benoit has experience drafting)
3. Xeno's Team (The strongest captain, with some heavyweight champions. The team to beat in 1v1s)
4. Aura's Team (The most well balanced team is lacking some depth near the bottom, which will hurt them longterm)
5. Love's Team (If I was a gambling man... I still wouldn't bet on this team. Too risky!)
6. Alex's Team (Biased picks but decent, I think this team is chasing a ghost - 90's team of Season 2)

we have to correct a few of the templates but it will all be correct @INSIDE
