No, I'm not talking about the clan.

In multi-day games, if some players have already said "GG," do you still put it in the chat anyway? I know nobody cares about politeness on the internet anyway, but does it annoy people to see "Unread Chat Messages" just to load up the whole game to see "GG"?

^ +1

or alternatively if you still want to GG, you can at least give some substinance and add more to it rather than just being "gg"

I'm on the fence about this one. Yes, it is very annoying to load up the game just to see "GG," especially with a slow internet connection. However, if someone doesn't say GG, I feel like that person is automatically a pompous asshole who thinks themselves to be above basic etiquette (even if it's not true, that's the impression I get).

I say gg sometimes, and sometimes I don't - regardless of if I win or lose.

It's pretty arbitrary for me and depends on my mood. I believe in etiquette and all but I wouldn't force it. Most players are pleasantly polite, but if they don't think the game was good they shouldn't force it.

I agree with Clint. That is the impression that i get of someone if he is talking in chat the whole game, and the end of the game he just says nothing.

I like my opponents to say gg for exactly that reason! I want to know when a game i put thought on ended.

Sometimes I say 'gg', but if it's the only thing that I'm going to write it really doesn't make difference if I say it or not, especially if the game wasn't particularly interesting. I don't think it's particularly rude, only not throwing empty words around.

The main time i say 'gg' is team games and Ladders. A regular FFA if it was a bland and boring game, i don't see why i should especially if the chat is empty. By the way NinjaNic, thnx for uploading that tutorial!!

Good point. I guess the conclusion is, if the chat is empty, don't bother. Otherwise, might as well say a simple "gg".

By the way NinjaNic, thnx for uploading that tutorial!!

My pleasure! I hope it helps.

I am like Venus on this one. I sometimes will say it but most of the time I don't do it, win or lose. I would say I say it even less when no words (not even hi) have been said in the game. What is way worse in my opinion than not saying gg is people that will try to recreate the whole game talking in conditional tense (using a ton of IFs) to discredit the victory of their opponents. Like oh I could have won IF this or IF that. Ok, well you did not do it so like take the loss and go home...That's extremely more annoying to me than people saying or not saying gg. That's way arrogant in my opinion because it is finding ways to diminish the value of the win of your opponent. I think it might explain sometimes why I don't say gg, I don't want to start a battle of words over a game where the issue is already settled.

Saying/Seeing gg or rarely wp at end of game or even after sometime after the end is a good thing according to me.

I like those people who writes so many things/converse(in English) during/end of game as it may help to learn something from the game. In fact, it is good on ladders-as it is accessible to all. And in a way, those tons of IF's are good as the game helps for training their minds ;)

If someone says you're lucky or a bad player and won or say how do i lose to a pathetic player like you (i can write few more things from a famous player ;) ) that is where it is arrogant and actually funny to see how big they think of themselves.

I usually say gg at the end of a game regardless of how it plays out, because it's an instinctive thing for me to do. On the rare occasion where someone has ticked me off or I'm busy, I don't say anything(or say mean things :p). I don't think of it being conditional on previous conversation. It is just my way of acknowledging that my opponent(s) played the game and were good sports.

I also usually tend to talk more at the end of a game if I lose. This is not my way of justifying a loss. I'm just writing down stuff which I felt could have changed the course of the game or I could have done better to make me a better player in the long run. If all games had a team chat exclusive to myself, I would note my observations there instead.

I don't think it is arrogant when you justify a loss. Sometimes it is due to things which were in your control and sometimes it isn't. But the main intent is to improve as a player if you ever analyze your game at a later date. It is in no way intended to diminish the value of the win for my opponent.

I systematically say gg, for me it's a question of respect. Including in an auto game vs a L19, and even if he got booted and will probably never open the page again.

The only time I don't is in a team game lost only due to a noob in the team that should have never been lost otherwise : the win is not deserved in my mind and can't acknoledge opponents' victory with a gg, plus i'm too frustrated to say anything. I may probably have a couple words about that teammate to clean my loss (ego inside, I know it's bad).
