I would love to see a map of Ancient China (ie, “the Central Plain Countries,” which is a better translation of 中原国家 than 'Middle Kingdom', which only translates the abbreviation 中国).

If I knew how to make maps, I'd try my luck. But I think it wouldn't take a great deal of time for an experienced map maker (the maps are clear, and dividing up territories can be done at your discretion). Can anyone make this happen? If so, I broke it down into territories, bonuses, geographic borders, etc., and also provided two very clear maps that show all this.

What I'd like to see for this map:

- 130 territories
- 15 country bonuses, 20 regional bonuses, 16 city bonuses, 24 bridge bonuses, 2 mountain pass bonus
- the Great Walls, Yellow River and Yangtze River as impassable boundaries (unless there is a pass or bridge)

City/Geographical Bonuses:

- 16 cities (see map #2) worth 2 each
- Huaihe River with 4 bridges (each bridge worth 1)...see map #1
- Yellow River and Yangtze River: 10 bridges each, each bridge worth a bonus of 1
- Note #1: Zhongshan is a mountain barrier
- Note #2: for Great Walls within a country, please allow only 1 connecting point for N-S walls and only 1 for W-E walls
- Hangu Pass (1 territory worth 1: see map #1)
- Northern Pass (2 territories worth 2/turn: located where there is a gap in the Great Walls between the Xiongnu and Yan in the north)

Country/Regional Bonuses (and total # of territories):

1. Xiongnu (7):
- 7 vast territories
- worth 6 per turn (Great Wall gap as a bonus of 1)

2. Qin (4): 4 territories worth 3/turn

3. Qi (6):
- Northern Qi (2 territories worth 1/turn)
- Central Qi (2 territories worth 1/turn)
- Southern Qi (2 territories worth 1/turn)
- Unified Qi (unification bonus of 2)

4. Yan (6):
- Western Yan (3 territories worth 1/turn)
- Eastern Yan (3 territories worth 1/turn)
_ Unified Yan (unification bonus of 3)

5. Zhao 6):
- Northern Zhao (2 territories worth 1/turn)
- Central Zhao (2 territories worth 1/turn)
- Southern Zhao (2 territories worth 1/turn)
- Unified Zhao (unification bonus of 2)

6. Wei (12):
- Western Wei (3 territories worth 1/turn)
- Northern Wei (3 territories worth 1/turn)
- Central Wei (3 territories worth 1/turn)
- Eastern Wei (3 territories worth 1/turn)
- Unified Wei (unification bonus of 7)

7. Han (6):
- Western Han (3 territories worth 2/turn)
- Eastern Han (3 territories worth 2/turn)
- Unified Han (unification bonus of 2)
- it's smack in the middle, so it's a more efficient bonus

8. Chu (10):
- Northern Chu (5 territories worth 3/turn)
- Southern Chu (5 territories worth 3/turn)
- Unified Chu (unification bonus of 3)

9. Lu (3):
- 3 territories, worth 2/turn
- it's the home of Confucius, so it's got a bit more bang for its buck

10. Yue (7):
- 7 vast territories, worth 6/turn
- to simplify things: northwestern border is the river & there is no need to show the southern or western borders (just extend the Yangtzu River a bit more west and cut the map off there to allow for a clear border between Yue and the Western Barbarians)

11. Zhou (2):
- 2 territories worth 5/turn
- Luoyang is worth 3/turn unlike the other cities
- the last remnants of the Zhou dynasty, and they are still de facto emperors

12. Song (4):
- Western Song (2 territories worth 1/turn)
- Eastern Song (2 territories worth 1/turn)
- Unified Song (unification bonus of 1)

13. Shu (8):

- Northern Shu (4 territories worth 2/turn)
- Southern Shu (4 territories worth 2/turn)
- Unified Shu (unification bonus of 3)

14. Western Barbarians - the Chinese used these terms! (3):
- located just west of Shu, between the two rivers (for the sake of simplicity)
- 3 larger territories worth 1/turn (just show the eastern borders, no need to see much else)

15. Northern Barbarians - again, a direct translation from the Chinese (3):
- located west of the Xiongnu and north of the Western Barbarians in the NW
- 3 larger territories worth 1/turn (just show the eastern borders, no need to see much else)

I'm trying to make this China map. I spent 1 hour tracing. I spent the last 3 hours wondering why borders aren't connected right.

Is there a quick, efficient way to delineate territories' borders and make them border adjacent territories without gaps or squiggly lines?

I'm thinking I should just give up...4 hours and nothing to show for it...

This is my second attempt. The first: I drew everything but it was a mess. So I went back, deleted everything to start over. Now: rivers look like crap. Of the three bonuses I drew: two are ok. One's borders don't connect.

The Great Walls look bad. The rivers look pathetic.
