0 people were killed/injured
1 person died. The guy who commited the attack was shot down by police, which almost rarely happens in Belgium. Although if the guy was lucky he would've actually killed people if he detonated the bomb in a mass crowd instead of a few meters away.
Immediate effects?
The Grand Place/Grote Markt which is the busiest spot for tourists and the central station where the attack took place are evacuated
Currently the police are deployed in mass number to secure and investigate areas in Brussels. This could be the city's second lockdown
This takes its toll on Belgian tourism specifically for Brussels. The city lost huge money this year just because of previous year terror attack and it's still not recovering from that. Due negative reputation Brexit companies might not want to relocate hq's to Brussels as well.
Stop turning this into something that it isn't.
First terrorist attack we have in Belgium since 2017
I care about this issue because it's a national issue in my country in regards of terrorism. If you were wondering why it's a matter of security. It's everything. Due to this attack more Belgian money will be uselessly spent on surveillance and patrouilling and will result in more stupid, false pretence laws like the patriot act George W. Bush jr. passed 15 years ago
