Hello people, I have been extremely active on war light recently and am leveling up rapidly. Due to my activity I am expecting to hit level 48 quite soon and would want to join the 1v1 ladder. I do not consider myself a very good player and I think I am average. Do any of you guys have any advise, tips, tricks to do fairly well?

There are a couple 1v1 strat guides laying around the forums (older posts, so you'll have to search for them). They're very useful considering that most games can be decided on picks and/or the first 2-3 turns.

Also, Pulsey (Brain) has a Tuition Thread up, see if you can find any tutors on that thread with good 1v1 ratings, experience trumps tips and tricks most days. I'd provide assistance, but I'm sure you want to aim higher than what I have to offer ^^

Play a lot of 1on1 with ladder settings, but only against players that are better than you.
Try to avoid players with win ratio of under 50%. When you play better players, ask them if they can tell you what you should have done differently, or to point out your obvious mistakes.

Look at recent games of top 20 players. Analyze for picks, see what number picks the players received, and see how their strategy changes for picks they didn't get.

Invite a friendly top player to a strategic 1v1, ask for feedback.

Strategic 1v1 can be very formulaic. See if you can find a strategic 1v1 tournament, perhaps round robin type that you can join first to get your skills up on that template.

As far as rankings go, to boost your rank, play as many games as possible, stall your losses until you can't stall them anymore. That will give you a good boost in the ranking, but eventually, will catch up with you.

Thanks for your advise. I've already starting viewing recent games of top players. I have also started a game analyzing thread.

dont bother analyzing.

teach you easy method for ladder.

Pop into ladder, put 5 games at a time, that way youlll get loads of noobs early on. Beat the easy opponents quickly, stall the losses, you should be able to hit top 30 easily.

The way i improve is to join =auto games and analyze them :) I indeed ask for lots of good players to help me too. When choosing auto games, i try to play against the people who are obviously good players since playing good players often can often more likely to learn a lot more and faster in strategy :) I was like you who were new to ladder. But if you are determine to improve, you will improve very fast. If you want, you can invite me in 1vs1 :)

He didn`t beat any high ranked players so he isn`t ranked to high even though his win rate is very good now.
