Sam Harris. Hated by the right for being critical of Trump and hated by the left for speaking out about Islamic extremism. In other words, he's hated for being rational and not blindly following ideology.

Is the west committing suicide?

In this recording Sam Harris speaks with Douglas Murray about his book 'The Strange Death of Europe: Immigration, Identity, Islam'. It is a thought provoking conversation.

I do not love Sam Harris.

I recognize that he is a well spoken and intelligent fellow, and on some questions i agree with him.

As for what you call 'peafowlism' among the Muslim communities discussed by Harris and his guest it has little relevance. In the Rotherham scandal it is the case of Muslim men systematically raping white English children and underage women, and then exploiting them as prostitutes for profit, while maintaining the victims compliance with credible threats of violence. Not the same thing.

I am glad you enjoyed the talk. I thought it would be of interest.

I think Harris is an inspiring individual. A champion of independent thought. He is attempting to change the world through intelligent conversation. He is someone who will actually listen to, and think about, ideas proposed to him, which is more than one can say for most people.

The thing about the west, I feel, is that its habits are unsustainable. That includes many of the ideas that are put forward in society and culture.

I think what Murray was saying about how nobody wants to face up to harsh realities, in the west, is spot on. It's what I have found when trying to discuss anything even remotely controversial or 'deep'. People just don't want to hear it.

But when something is taboo, simply because the people do not want to bother themselves to think about something that they can do little about. It is the dispensation of their obligations, to other people and animals, etc. in favour of blissful ignorance and willing credulity. It saddens me.

Yeah. I would add religion to that list. Islam specifically.
People are too afraid of the backlash, whether it be violence or mis-labelling
