I have an acquaintance who cleans public toilets as a second job. In his experience when there is a mess in a bathroom it tends to be worse in the women's bathrooms. Explosive diarrhea and squeamishness about putting ones tush in contact with the toilet seat can have very ugly consequences.

It's not so much tolerating it's just what they need psychologically speaking to feel accepted and comforted that they are indeed in the right place when they are taking a shit.
