In my Intro to Psychology class, last semester, I learned that electroshock actually isn't a joke. It has been shown to cure major depression as a last resort.

Furthermore, the placebo effect is well documented and irrefutable. If we tell GBT people that electroshock has a chance to turn them straight then the placebo effect should revert a few of them. It also has a 0% chance of death.

My idea, is to mandate that if LGBT people want to get married then they have to have electroshock therapy. Afterall, if shocking gay people is so "un-scientific" and "laughable" then GBT folks have nothing to fear. If they oppose it then they are only exposing their ideologically inconsistent fear of the placebo effect and electroshock therapy.

If you are right and gay people are really "Born gay" and that its "Just who they are" then a little electricity shouldn't change their strong identity. Dare to use your own logic.

What if two men get married and one gets depression later in life? What if the depressed man gets electroshock therapy and the placebo effect takes hold? Now you have a marriage were one man is gay and the other is straight and that is truly sad. Pre-marital electroshock therapy would have prevented this.

What is the advantage? The advantage is the increase in straight couples and therefore child production. For this reason, Lesbian fiances would be exempt because gay women can still get pregnant from sperm banks. Most western countries do not have birth rates that can maintain their population. This is simply another weapon to use to fight the demographic war.

I hope you will do this to straight people too. What if they're gay and need to be placebo-ed out of being straight?

And I assume you'll be electroshocking people who want to make any big decision. "Hey lets have kids." "okay, but remember, we have to get electroshocked first so we can be sure, otherwise, one of us might bail."

Since studies have documented the psychological damage in children associated with growing up in single-mother or divorced households, a society in in which nuclear families are the norm is a healthy society.

They worked for thousands of years. Arranged marriages have been the primary form of marriage in the West since its conception.

Compatibility should be taken into account of course, but if the partners exchange vows not just to each other, but to their families, and all of society, and especially a religious or spiritual bulwark, the likelihood of divorce is seriously reduced.

Again marriage has been misunderstood. It is not the next level of sexual gratification or romantic gratification. It is an acceptance of duty, to carry out the work of something higher. Transcends the individuals involved.

How about since you're so interested in this field you volunteer for electroshock yourself. Lots of GBT people are happy with their life and don't give a poppy if you have a problem with them, and have zero reason to waste their time or risk side effects from electroshock treatment.

So how about you go volunteer to see if electroshock changes your own sexuality. If it doesn't, you can repeat the process until you have a big sample or it changes and then publish your results.

The way I see it, LGBT people don't bother no one, and in the practical side, the more LGBT people there is, the less breeding you'll have, which is very good for the planet. I don't believe Republicans/right are by default anti-gay rights and democrats/left are by default pro-gay rights, that's being simplistic and a manicheist vision of the world. However republican representatives don't really help setting the record straight (straight HAHA!), by taking anti-gay marriage stances, putting forward transgender bathroom bills against a non-issue or Trump banning transgenders from the army with no other reason than to please to his base...
