I've been playing lots of Warlight lately but I've also been playing atwar.

http://atwar-game.com/home/

I love these games, warlight and atwar are the same for me.

Although atwar has good looking maps, good qualities, get cash where you can actually buy troops, naval units, air force units, and marine units too. You can conquer regions around you and get cash in any way. The maps there is just like google earth but you can't actually zoom in. You can upgrade your account in lots of ways like increase your naval power or income and you even get levels.

atwar is pretty awesome but they have some disadvantages that made me think warlight and atwar are the same. First of all, you have to pay to make maps, and use custom scenerio. Some maps you need to buy membership and a friend told it took them a year to get to lv.4 :I

So you guys try out the game, it's free and see which game you like better.
Sorry I feel like people are on General then on off topic.

It looks like a pretty good game, but it makes me feel a little bit of pay-to-win. Is it correct? If yes, it totally ruins the game experience. Almost all of games nowadays have this awful curse. I stick to Warlight because it is more user friendly, and the almighty M icon just give you more ways to play with other players and friends than ways to win.

Creating maps is also a strong point. Creativity is the only limit. But a realistic approach like atWar gives a good sensation too.

I don't know if I like the "no grid" configuration and the amount of different units. I'm a Risk puritan, less is more, and the Warlight's cards is just sufficient.

But, as you said, they are close games. Maybe the same game but in different paths. Fizzer should look to some of their features to think about the future of Warlight.

I personally don`t like games that have money (either ingame currency or real money) needed to win.

I agree Min. Same reason I play Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3, but not World of Warcraft. Once I buy a game I want lasting fun without additional investment of money.

The game's purchase system is similar to WarLight's. You don't pay to win, but can buy maps and unlock extra features, this is stated explicitly in their rules.

I'm doing a test run of the game myself, since Risk and Civilization are my two favorite strategy-based games and this game apparently combines the two.

Any of you ever play Triple A? That game is amazing if you love Axis and Allies.

Well, if you play Triple A, there is no setup time. And, it depends on what/who you play for the length. I have won turn 3 with Germany before (even against the good AI). I've also played for 5-6 hours in hard situations (give myself bad AI team and other side all advantages possible in game).

But in a PC game, you can play it over multiple days anyway.

I stick to warlight because it gives you more management without payment.
