hi all,
i'd want to report the presence of a player whose nick name ends with a SWASTIKA. I asked him if he is a nazi and he didn't deny it. He let me understand that he is actually a NAZI.

I don't know if there is a regulation about this things, but i felt really really offended by the presence of a player which show a SWASTIKA in his nick name and he's moreover actually a nazi. I think that a lot of people would feel like me, so i ask if Warlight can do something about that. To be a nazi and to claim it is a crime in my country (Italy) and in many others, especially those in which the nazi creed has brought ignominious violence and death.

I hope players like the one i met could be banned as long as every symbol recalling criminal creeds like this.

Free. Speech.

We are all entitled to our opinions, and indeed have the right to tell others of our opinions. The way I see it, YOU started the conversation about his beliefs, not him. I understand how eugenics can be, putting it lightly, an icky subject. I don't agree with his beliefs, but I agree he has the right to have them. You seem to have the same hatred for him that you accuse him of having for others. Maybe if we all start practicing tolerance, groups that espouse hatred will realize that their way is not correct.

He've done nothing wrong, and it's not against the wl rules. However if you don't wanna play with him again you can use the Blackist ;)

go to his profile>Blacklist>don't have to play with him again

to be nazi is not an opinion, it's a crime (ask to ONU and to several nations). however, everyone can have his own ideas. you are also free to commit crimes, it's a your choice. There could be thousands of nazi players, but the thing hurted me is the swastika in the name. it's like to permit a terrorist showing symbols that incite to commit violence.

Warlight is not made or (i assume) hosted in Europe. The laws regarding Nazi's and their symbols are different in the US.

Fun fact: being a Nazi or having Nazi-related items (such as portraits of Hitler, etc.) is NOT illegal as is commonly believed. Having done some research I found out, you are allowed to own these things and even believe in Nazism, however, you're not allowed to show or express these things to others. Weird, but effective.

Being a Nazi isn't illegal, sharing your beliefs as a Nazi is. Still, it's ironic that Italy made it illegal since they were allied with Nazi Germany until 1943 (or 1942?).

Anyhow, another interesting thing is, the Swastika, when drawn the other way around (though the direction it's drawn actually makes no difference in Hinduism), is the Hindu symbol for luck or divine blessings. So it's not necessarily a Nazi symbol.

This topic has come up a total of three times since I made this account, touchy stuff.

Yeah, totally ironic in light of all those war crimes the troops of the German occupation committed against Italians from 1943 onwards.

Regarding the swastika, it's pretty horrible having a religious/cultural symbol so completely hijacked that I don't really feel comfortable using it at all. Not horrible in comparison to most of the other things they did, but still.

WL is a LLC from US, and therefor Italy's (and German's) laws is not relevant for the discussion.

"XI. Governing Law
Any claim relating to WarLight, LLC.'s Web Site shall be governed by the laws of the State of Washington without regard to its conflict of law provisions"

Yes, because the German soldiers were the only ones guilty of war crimes. Since such symbols are banned might as well ban Mussolini's portrait for cooperating with Hitler in rounding up Jews, homosexuals and gypsies. Oh and Franco's, too.

I'm just saying, the Italian's are being a tad hypocritical about the whole situation, their country was neck-deep with the German's until they saw the war was going badly. They pulled a similar stunt in WWI. There was a running joke in my history class in the States, when the Italians change sides, you know it's time to bail ^^
