I've made a small map of alagaesia.
alagaesia is the fantasy world of the novel "eragon". it's quite famous, and i wonder why no one else has made this map before...^^

anyway, it's my first map and i want to be sure everything is correct before i finish it.

i tried to make the map as detailed as possible and also involved the landscape.
the distribution of the regions was quite difficult. especially on unpopulated regions, i just name the regions "north", "east", ect.
i also try to make the empire and the varden equally powerful, but i'm not sure if this works with the balancing...

Isn't this the series that a guy started when he was 14? I'm think I read the first 2 books but I never got really invested in it.

The map looks nice. I think the bonuses are too large though and the bonus to territory ratio is a bit unbalanced in places e.g. Du Weldenvarden --> 7/11, that's just not enough when you have a 4/6 at the other side of the map.

Also, I saw 2 missing connections:
Kuasta-->Toak River Pass
Daret-->Northern Plains

i'm gonna think about the bonuses too, but as i said i want to make the empire and the varden equally powerful. so its quite difficult to balance this.

I made an alagaesia map before, but since, i don't know how to make the fill of a territory in inkscape i can't finish it

ok, i think i'm nearly finished with this map.
i already test this map with my brother, and we noted that the hadarac desert was too big and i split it in 2 parts.
i also change the bonuses a bit.
if it's necessary i can make some more testgames, but all in all i think the map is ready for publish...

i've also seen that Microbo publish his alagaesia map just at this moment. so maybe i've to name my map alagaesia 2, or alagaesia medium...
but at least i'm happy that there are so much eragon-fans here! xD

You also said you tried to detail it more, which would be nice. No offense to Microbo but his map is not detailed much at all, perhaps yours will be a little nicer on the eyes?

Hey Cruncher, i like you're map.
I haven't played it, but it looks great, very accurate.
Nearly no (black) islands, no overlapping borders or such with big distances. Really a recovery/relaxation to most of the new scrawled maps from lately.

Well, on the other hand it does keep a bit of the magic that raged through me while reading the novels intact after you have finished it...

Well, at least Paolini said he will write more books about alagaesia and i'm very excited about this... :D

i already try to add this, but than the territory of Vorengard would be too small.
i also think about adding more "city" territories, but often there is just not enough space... so i just use it for the capitals.

Vorengarg = Vroengard
Therinsfort = Therinsford
Illum = Illium
Orthaid = Orthiad
Tronjheim = Farthen Dûr
Because all of the other territories were named after cities I think you shouldn't name this one after the mountain.

the most of the names i copied directly by the map, only some of them i've written by hand. thats why there are mistakes...

actually Farthen Dûr is the name of the mountain, and Tronjheim is the city.
but it might be better to understanding if it's named as in the map

Tronjheim is the city? I just thought it was the mountain because the name means: "Helm of giants", and a hollow mountain looks a bit like a helmet.

actually i've got a better idea. i make a bonuslink of Farthen Dûr and name the territory Tronjheim.^^
this is also better for the balancing, because the beor mountains were a bit too big..

But if there are no more mistakes i want to publish my map shortly. ;)

i'll first make some final testgames with more players. do anyone wants to test?

ok, i've test the map on my own again, and i think everything works quite well.
as there is nothing more to change in the map i finally publish it now! :D
