Gui, I also bow down. Your cockiness knows no bounds. Of only we can be as amazing Warlight players as you, and just as full of ourselves.

Texas, you are welcome to join [X]. I have a decent training system going:

- First, I give players a link to a game with chat that logically and in a step-by-step manner explains the game, using zaeban, Impaller-Waya, BP, Mian, unknownsoldier, HHH, and a few others' styles as examples. Two links to exceptional 1v1 RRs are also included, and I suggest that the players watch them.
- Second, depending on the player's level we either play a no fog practice game or a normal fog practice game. We discuss picks, strategies, etc.
- Third, I ask the player to try to digest everything learned so far by play on his own a bit before inviting me to another game.
- Fourth, more practice 1v1s with me.
- Fifth, once we get 16 [X] members who have joined a practice 1v1 tournament of 16, they will be able to practice there too.

Essentially, I offer a wide variety of ideas, strategies, examples (hardly any from how I play, almost all from how others approach the game) and then hope the players can find a style that best suits them.

I don't mind your name calling. You don't know me. I don't know you. But no need to let your emotions get in the way of a good chance to become a better player.

I'll join this clan. . . once I'm permitted to leave the illustrious BMS.

Anyways, I think this is pretty cool. One of the top-ranked players of Warlight is offering help to those that desire it. When he has no obligation to, or compensation in doing so.

Just for your information, although I'm fine with any fantasy that could give you extra fun playing, Gui, there is no need to build a kind of clan to do some teaching. Let me explain.

You might know, as I explained it in my profile page and here and there in threads, that I consider it a very noble task to help weaker players improve and refine their game.
You see, I am a teacher myself too. And anyhow I had some good feedback from my WL learners, I guess because I try very hard to add simple concepts to describe the flow of a game. Please ask Z, Yeon who once was more or less my pupil (well he didn't need me for long, but still !), Widzisz, tambourineman, Major Risk, maybe BostonBruins, and a couple other ones I happened to meet on so-called "Mian's Teaching game[s]" I brought to the list of open games.
I'll encourage somewhat skilled players to do the same once in a while, opening practice games to play weaker players and comment substantially about what happens and what went wrong.

If you want to be so active helping, you may, or we may in a collective work, try editing a full strategy guide based as a system of concepts, as Nimzowitsch made about chess (Nimzo., "My System"). This could fit in great in the WL wiki. What about that ?

Clan: helps me keep track of them. helps me create games for them (invite list has no categories, so common names function as a category within the list). i'd also hope that they could learn together. but you are right, there is not a need to have a clan. i just think it would help.

i sent you my tutorial game's link. i'm not interested in helping faceless strangers. i'm more interested in witnesses the growth of specific individuals.

Also, I think joining a clan (and thereby changing your name) signals an act of humility that shows one is ready to and willing to learn from the teacher. Just my 2 cents though, of course.

Here's a challenge Gui. Best of 5. Maps and settings of your choosing. You beat me and I will bow down and call you master. You lose and never again will you be so condescending with your over bloated ego on these forums and in future treat others with respect and humility.

I doubt you'll take the challenge but it's there all the same.

He doesnt need to be the 'best' player to be able to teach people.

Cant everyone just leave this thred in peace? if he wants to teach a few players let him. If people want to be taught by him let them. What difference does it possibly make to you?

I can only welcome your initiative, Guilaume Le Batard :)

I confirm that Mian kindly taught me almost everything I know about this game (even beating him sometimes, which is always a delicious but exceptionnal moment :)

But it is true that players like Mian Warlight are very rare in Warlight. Few top players are willing to comment or share their game strategy, and very few are able to explain simply as Mian. Honestly it's the only one I know, and he taught me even when he was No. 1 Ladder.

I think Mian should be part of this team, as a teacher, if he has enough time to devote to this in his busy life, and if he agrees to have an X ( why X?, I personnaly would have name the team [InProgress] ?) next to his name.

Sorry if there is some mistakes in this post, and thanks to google translate !

No thanks, Gui. The group of guys I play with are pretty good (ak65, V, Chaos, etc), and I learn a lot from them, especially Chaos. Maybe you are a "better" player than them, but at least I can learn from them over beers, and have foosball breaks when I get bored of imagining strategy.

Grat, I agree, in a similar way. I've tried helping others. They weren't committed. It was a waste of time for everyone. Joining the clan tells me a player is committed and that they are more receptive (which tells me I wouldn't be wasting my time).

Raver, I plan on disappearing soon enough on my own. What good is the forum? (1) Offer an idea you hope Fizzer will pay attention to? He won't. If there are technical problems with the game, he'll help though. (2) Offer constructive ideas for other players to consider? Most people will attack your person, not your ideas. (3) Chum it up with others? That's about all the forum is good for. Just let me get enough [X] players and you won't hear from me. I played 1500 games before I wrote anything on the forum. From games 1 to 1500 I thought the forum was a joke, not worth my time. One day I thought I could offer ideas to help WL's game play. I tried fighting windmills like Don Quijote, to no avail. If you look back, not once did I attack another player first. Very soon I will return to my original way of thinking: no need to bother with the forum, it is a joke, a place for angry know-it-alls who block out others. The only way I'd join a 1v1 against you, Raver, is if you wanted to join [X]. You seem like a good player. Want to be great? Maybe I could help.

Z, myhandisonfire is also helping. If any other good/great player wants to help, the more the merrier. If you want to learn about games other than 1v1 medium earth, Z, feel free to join [X].

Tex, I don't offer any beverages.

"(1) Offer an idea you hope Fizzer will pay attention to? He won't"

Gui, your idea's may be beneficial to the game, and may not be.. some of them change the dynamic of the game and might not be in Fizzer's interest to implement..
He has made many changes that were brought up in the forum... keep in mind again that he is a single person attempting to do practically everything this game requires by himself..

also, you may have been attacked previously, generally privately by others, but your continual posts addressing these facts just instigates the personal attacks...
I, personally, see no need to start a thread talking about what others are saying about me in -any- game that is played, be it beneficial or negative.. but you did..

I don't get why all the attacks regarding this clan.. I think this is a great idea. While I was a noob, i didn't know anything about strategy, and was losing constantly. However, now, i can proudly say i'm not too bad of a player. This development largely contributed by peers (my fellow warlight friends). Players like Charles the Great (Bumblebee), Waya, alex cho, Myriad (chump intepelation) and myhandisonfire have helped me tremendously. Waya and alex cho especially taught me how to play strategic 1v1. Not only did I acquire skills and strategies through them, they have also taught me warlight manners, as back then (as silly as this may sound) i booted whenever i got the chance. I think this clan's offers are very valuabe and if you personally do not want to join, please stop hurling insults at it.

Perrin, about Fizzer: Yes, I know. I'm simply pointing out the futility of offering suggestions. I'd guess for every 200 suggestions proposed on the forum, 1 is implemented. For every top 10 UserVoice idea, maybe 1 or 2 is implemented. Every day there is someone saying: 'New card idea' or something else. Based on my experience, it's like yelling into an empty cave. The only response you get is an echo (from other players on the forum). So why offer suggestions at all? Just let Fizzer work his magic and enjoy it for what it's worth.

About responding to attacks: I think it's funny. When I read that somebody is (a) attacking me instead of my idea, (b) bringing up a tangential possibility unrelated to my main point, (c) lacks the experience or knowledge to actually address something with any amount of credibility, or (d) speaks in a purely emotional manner, I usually laugh. If it were real life, I doubt people would say or do such things. I recently invited 5 players who appear to hate or dislike me on the forum to a 5 v 5 (I get 4 AIs as teammates) just for fun. In the game's public chat they are reasonably polite. Forum psychology is interesting. In my games, I might be one of the more friendly, polite players. But if somebody violates an unspoken rule (teammate attacks teammate, controlling multiple accounts for an advantage, refusal to vote to end when it is most warranted, etc.), the gloves come off. Take [X] for example. On the forum all he does is dog me. Yet in the games we played (before I had enough of him), we seemed to get along.

Now, certain news agencies's comment sections are monitored. If you speak nonsense on Le Monde, The Washington Post, Foreign Affairs, etc., your comment is removed. They have standards: constructive criticism, decent language, personal attacks can't go too far, etc. Here, there are no rules, causing many of the most intelligent players to be reluctant to add their ideas.

I recently looked at a 1v1 RR Ruthless made 1-3 years ago in denzyman's games (I have control over his account and a 1v1 tournament game suddenly appeared in his My Games). I read some of the chat in that tournament. Fizzer was one of the guys. Everyone was friendly, joking, offering ideas, having real exchanges. If the forum were like that, what a wonderful world it would be. If, however, one of the players randomly attacked another of the players in that chat, I'd expect there to be a response. To ask for no response assumes the attacker is a child and the responder has to assume the role of being a parent. I'd rather assume there is a semblance equality, Aristotelian in nature.
