Here's a new map: http://warlight.net/SinglePlayer.aspx?PreviewMap=11029

As you can see, the description is entirely in Czechian :(
I can't read it, nor select the text to ask Google Translate. I wonder why Fizzer even lets this map publish with the current description that only 2% of Warlight Users know.

Czechian?

Clearly EVERYTHING must be in English. After all, only anglophones play the game...

It is kinda "hospitable" (sorry, don't know a better word) to allow people to use their own language / not force them to use English. However, I wouldn't mind if it were at least encouraged to, in that case, include a description in English *as well*.

(@Moros: It's simply called "Czech", not "Czechian" :p And it's readable by considerably more than 2% of the users; Polish and Czech (as well as Polish and other Slavic languages) are similar enough for Poles to understand at least the general gist of it. Of course, English is still readable by much, *much* more people.)

In the meantime, making the text selectable (so it can be copy-pasted to Google Translate) would of course be a big help. Maybe make a Uservoice of it?

---

Just for the hell of it, I manually copied it to Google Translate, here's the result (after cleaning it up a little):

|> This is a small map of the Czech Republic, broken down by region.
By the way, I would give together such a Slovak Czech community.
For more information contact me on skype where my name is Vondy, or mail tfvondy@seznam.cz
Enjoy your game.

Doesn't look like you missed too much critical information... Reading the Czech and making a few reasonable assumptions I got everything important except that it was broken down by region (which was clear from the map itself anyway) and I wasn't sure why he mentionad Slovakia. Consider it a nice chance to practice your language skills. :p

On a not-entirely-related note, I'm not sure how much I like every territory being a bonus...

I know it is better for us if it is in english, but this are the real names of the terretories. so accually most english maps shouldnt be english. (of course it is more usefull when they are)

min34... the complaint wasn't in regards to the territory names but was about the description in the left panel.

well,
as first, as someone allredy stated it is Czech, not czechian
as second, i do not see problem in it, map descrition does not have inpact on gameplay, it is just telling what the map is and where did it came from, and i personaly very rarely read it. a i guess that most of other players do not read it too.

I have nothing against it being in anothwer language but I think it would be better if they do put it in another language put it in english aswell so everyone can understand it

wigi... you are assuming that they know English well enough to put it in English as well.

And by that logic, shouldn't all map descriptions written in English also be put into other languages so that everyone can understand them?

No, not if you take into account the implicit assumption that English is the de facto lingua franca of international communications (and, by extension, the Internet).

Ehm, that thing doesn't even have a description... (We're talking about the description, shown in the left panel after clicking "Preview Map", not the names of territories and bonuses.)

You can't copy the map description, so it would be nearly impossible when working with Chinese or Cyrillic letters.

I agree with one point of this discussion.. the text should be selectable so that it can be google-translated..

the -only- real reason I could see for forcing people to -not- use a foreign language, would be to ensure the cleanliness of the descriptions of languages that fizzer may or may not understand.. Beyond this reasoning, I think that descriptions should be written in whatever the writer is most comfortable with..

Sadly, this same exception could be used for territory names, which Poland, Big clearly is a prime example..
