It would be nice if an option for game-creators (alongside the "respect vacations" box) to allow different boots to be effected by vacations. For example, you could make a game where someone won't be auto-booted while on vacation, but can still be direct-booted. Or as another example, you could disable both direct and auto boots against a vacationing player but still allow vote-to-boot.

This makes no sense to me. The respect vacation box covers all of the same issues. If you only want to partially respect vacations why not just not respect them period? No need to add unnecessary complications to the situation

well in a regular game, you're right, it doesn't matter much. When you have games with 24 people in them however, it gives the other players the option to respect the vacation because they can still boot if they want to, but the auto will not boot them. Currently, the only option is for the map creator to chose before the game is even created to either allow or disallow vacations. It could be especially useful in tournaments, as it could speed games up, while allowing players to respect vacations if they want to.

You can do that already. A "V" appears next to their name even if vacations are not respected. People have the option of respecting that if they want, or they can use a boot option.

Autoboot would still be in play, but that's how the game was set up, presumably on purpose. Play games without autoboot or that do respect vacations if this situation bothers you.

The map creator? I think you mean game creator... slight difference.

Seems to me the respect of vacation should remain with the game/tournament creator seeing as they are the ones creating the game/tournament with their desired settings. Having such a change would be akin to allowing players to decide if AI's replace surrendered/booted players after the fact instead of having it automated and the same for everyone.

w/e Richard, I'm not here to argue, just propose an idea as a solution to a small problem I've seen in a small number of games.

@Duke the thing is, the way I use auto-boot usually is to boot people who are inactive without a reason. What I'm saying is, when 'respect vacations' is enabled, the auto-boot doesn't boot players. With this 'somewhat respect' function, it would give game-creators more liberty to have that extra customization in games.

This function has no foreseeable downside, only extra customization without drastically changing any major game mechanics. Because of that, I see no reason that this couldn't be implemented, even if you don't see it as useful.

Ideally the settings page would be less cluttered, not more cluttered. Already we get a couple posts a week about various people who didn't read the settings for a game and came here to complain about it.

Unnecessary things which make other things worse are not good solutions.

I don't think one more line would clutter the settings page that much.....plus, the settings page needs a re-work anyway.
