Ever played more than 200 games before realizing that you misunderstood how one of the cards worked? No?

Ever figured it out yourself only AFTER creating a practice game, asking one of the best players on the site about it, and having him tell you something you already knew? No?

Maybe just me then. Grr.

(Frustration and mild embarrassment aside, I'm glad I asked, as now I know.)

To be honest, I actually don't fully know how the order delay card works xD

Once you play an order delay, ALL of your opponents following moves come before yours.

So if I make a move before I play an order delay, that move will not be affected by the card and will proceed normally. Then once I play the card, my opponent will finish his turn with all the moves in his queue and only after he's done all his moves, my moves will restart.

If 2 players play and order delay in the same turn, then it's basically like the card wasn't played at all, and then you resort back to order delaying moves in order to make your order go after your opponent's order. So it is beneficial to make random, order delaying moves AFTER you've played your order delay card, in case your opponent plays an order delay card in the same turn.

What about using two order delay cards? I played on game which I used two order delay cards, and I know for a fact that my opponent only had one order delay card. My opponent still had the last order.

bishes, not entirely true..
since order delay can be moved throughout the turn

In my mind, the best way to think about it is pushing it into a second combat phase in the turn..

normal games w/o OD go..

Phase 1: ABABABABABAB

games with OD activated go

Phase 1: ABABAB ODA BBBB
Phase 2: AAAA

It is true that it's important to save your stalling moves until after the OD card is played.. but you can adequately use an OP card to push an early attack in one location, while still delaying and getting the counter-attack in another location, in the same turn..

I made a poor example, since it didn't turn out the way I was expecting.. but it does show how OP and OD cards operate, just check the last turn

OD cards do stack properly..
also note, that turn order alternates in some manner in each new *-phase-*

Perrin, what you said was exactly what I said, which part of my post is not entirely true?

So in other words, it's more likely that I was mistaken about him only having 1 order delay card instead of two than anything else?

It was indeed the Order Delay card. I had mistakenly always thought that it would delay ONE order in ONE round. Makes me wonder how many opportunities I've missed.

Jep, only figured that one out after ~400 games as well. But I prefer playing games without cards so I didnt miss out on that much opportunities

Imagination - If you know which game it was you should be able to check the log to see how many he played.

Also note that I believe Perrin had it wrong. The standard order of attack is in a snake fashion... ABBAABBAAB or ABCCBAABCCBA etc. with the players being randomly assigned one of those letters.

True, X. It isn't terribly difficult to understand, which is all the more frustrating for not having been using it correctly.

I would say, however, that it is very easy to make incorrect assumptions about, especially considering that "Order Priority" only affects one order. I either misunderstood the first time I read it, or assumed incorrectly without reading it closely, but still find it amusing/annoying that it took me so long to notice. Others obviously have done the same.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As a side note, factually stating that something "isn't that difficult to understand" might not be the best practice unless you are offering encouragement or showing someone a method of understanding. In a case like this, anyone who finds it easy will not need to be told, and anyone who doesn't will probably feel justifiably insulted.

Unfortunately, I don't remember what game it was.

Perhaps I should just make my own practice game, like Perrin, using as many similar circumstances as I can recall...
