I need help with two things at this point of the map.

1. I need help on taking to groups of territories Ive made and putting them together with no gaps. Is there a way to do that or is it all freehanded and takes alot of time and practice?

2. I also need to know how to combine territories in a group but still have the boundry lines showing..

I have looked for ways to do it I'm using Inkscape if that helps any. Am creating a rather large map and would appreciate any help anyone could give.

Bitter, I assume your second point meant creating bonuses and that you were successful in doing so.

As for the first point, there is no means I am aware of to merge the borders of two existing territories and make them align properly. There is a way to carve up a larger territory into two smaller ones with perfect borders but that wouldn't work given the situation you described.

I hear ya. Are you tracing the map from something then? And how much have you already done?

Ya it is a bigger map i am tracing it. I got a decent outline and im going to try to get some of the provinces set up and do a rough test run so i can iron out the the deployment numbers but inkscape is giving me a run for it lol

If all you have done so far is the main border then you are golden. Get the continent boundaries done and then let me know and I can walk you through some tools that will make your life easier.

Okay, what you need to do now is break the large mass into bonuses... do this using the division tool in Inkscape. Then you inset those bonuses to get adjacent borders... it will mess some areas up so manual tweaking may be needed. Then break the bonuses down further using the division tool and voila.

Division Tool (Ctrl /):
I recommend you play with this first to learn how it works. Draw a square or circle and then draw another shape over that (I recommend the Bezier curve tool to make the shapes) then use the division tool. It should break the first square into two separate entities with one being just the overlap of the two shapes. This will make perfectly overlapping borders... it's what I used for my [Ireland map](http://warlight.net/Map.aspx?ID=3465)

Inset Tool (Ctrl ( ):
Again, play around with this tool before using. I recommend using the results of your division tool testing to test the inset tool. All this does is move the borders of a territory inwards as much as you direct it to. With a soft touch you should be able to get the borders adjacent or very nearly so. I would recommend uploading an early attempt at this onto Warlight so you can see how it handles the adjacent borders (what looks good in Inkscape doesn't always translate to Warlight).

Hopefully you understood all that

There is a way to make territories have perfect borders when they first don't. But it's a more slow way than it would be had you made the territories perfect from the start.
Here's an example:
Let's assume I'm making an earth map, and I have two territories drawn:
![](http://i41.tinypic.com/2ntzd4g.png)

As you can see the borders don't overlap that well, but I think the right territory is closer to reality than the left one. Now, to make the left one overlap perfectly with the right, I first create a duplicate of the right territory by by selecting it and pressing CTRL+D. Then I double-click the territory I think has a faulty border, to go in the nodes mode, like this:
![](http://i41.tinypic.com/15xqoo4.png)

And I drag the corresponding nodes across the border with the right territory, until there's no more gap, like this:
![](http://i42.tinypic.com/142a3dl.png)

Then I select both territories (not by dragging a box around them, this makes the method fail. You click one of them, then hold SHIFT and click the other one), and use this tool, under the paths menu:
![](http://i43.tinypic.com/4i0ioj.png)

Once again, I have no idea how it's called in English, but you can recognize the symbol.
Now the result should look something like this:
![](http://i43.tinypic.com/20u25jp.png)

Don't be afraid, you didn't screw anything up, the copy of the right territory is still there beneath the thing you've just created! Now, go in the nodes mode again by double-clicking it, and select a few nodes that belong to the right territory, and press DELETE. You don't need to select all of them, a few will do. Now, this action will leave you with a long, curved line, not anywhere near any territory borders. Just click it, press DELETE, repeat until it's gone. And the result is this:

Sometimes, the last step may cause you to delete nodes belonging to the wrong territory. But, as you grow some experience with Inkscape, you should be able to fix it quite easily.

Good call on that Moros... haven't used that trick in that fashion but did similar with the lakes on the Ireland map to make them cut out from the bonus. Will have to keep that in mind.

This is the map i am using and most of the smaller territorys i am trying to base names off the city but there are some gaps i have come up with names for eventually i wanna learn (after i finish all of the territorys and kingdoms i wanna put in the circles for a capitol so i need to figure that bull out later too but this is the map ( http://images.wikia.com/axisandallies/images/1/1e/VARIE-Midkemia_Map_2.jpg ) and i used the basic height and width for it so it is rather large.
