A hypothetical question from me:

If Fizzer were to add another ladder map or change the existing map. Which map would you prefer?

The only reason i'd like to play on a different map is for the variety. If it's just replaced it'll soon get just as boring. Earth serves it's purpose well enough though.

Can only use his own maps? That doesn't make much sense to me as I thought there was a statement in the TOS or somewhere stating that all uploaded maps were fair game for use on WL. I also can't imagine many map designers complaining about their maps being used for a ladder... I know I would be pleased if Ireland were used in such a fashion.

Hypotheticals are a poor means of determining an answer to a question as it is assumed by the respondents that there is some ulterior motive behind the question.

If you simply wanted to know what maps is most preferred you would have been better off asking just that without the ladder precursor.

I don't see it being too huge of an issue, with the copyright. I mean, using them without permission may be illegal, but most of the good maps have good designers, and I doubt they would object to their map being used in the ladder.

Unless, of course, the map designer has changed his email address and gone inactive, thus making them unreachable. What would the ethical implications be there?

If the map creator didn't care enough for WarLight so that he stopped playing it, I don't think he would care for anyone using his map.

This is . . . well it's pedantic and not a little foolish. Please illuminate how you came to the conclusion that respondents assume there is an ulterior motive?
Certainly in my experience when people ask me a hypothetical - say a "would you rather" a hypothetical type of scenario which can be humourous and interesting as just that a hypothetical. I don't suddenly fear someone is actually going to put me in that situation.

but you unfortunately have some fear of people being out to 'get' you with these questions, others call that paranoia. You come across more as a pedant though.

Also it's not quite the same just asking for favourite maps. As the ladder map needs a broad appeal and longevity. Meh not that it matters. More than half a dozen respondents and the OP scenario went over all of your heads and you talk about copyrights?

I am in mourning for all of your reading skills.

I'd like to see the double-medium earth map used. It would make games longer though....which could cause problems for seasonal ladder.

I was actually thinking about making a new post, because I would like to know when season III will start up, and what map it will be on. If it is to be on a new map, it would be nice to get some good practice in before the ladder starts.
