This game is from a round robin tournament of 2v2. From my understanding of how pick order works, I can't figure out how my partner (ex PFC) did not get his second pick in South America. Instead, the pick went to a guy on the other team, who got it as his 5th pick.

I'm not sure if this is a bug, or a misunderstanding on my part about how picks operate (especially in 2v2). Any insight that you guys have?

My guess is that he had the 3rd pick and you had 4th. Therefore you got your first and second selections since no one else chose those territories.

He got his first selection and when it came time to get a second selection, his 2-4 picks were already taken (his 2 was your 2, his 3 was PFC's 1 and his 4 was your 1) and so he was given his 5th selection which was your partner's 2nd.

The territories don't go to the player that uses the highest selection on them. Instead, the highest available selection is given to the 'drafting' player and then the next player is viewed independently.

If you think about it, your team got the better outcome in that your partner got his 1/3 picks while your opponent got stuck with 1/5.

his pick 2-4 were occupied by others so his 5th pick became 2nd pick. Don't know the order it is distributed in 2v2 but the order was the way that your teammates 2nd pick was later than his 2nd pick

I'm not complaining at all, as it did work out better for us overall. I was just curious how things worked. It was my understanding that picks went strictly by tiers (all first picks always beat out 2nd picks, and all second beat 3rd, etc).

I don't play a lot of 2v2, so pick order in that setup isn't something I was very informed about.

Thanks for the info, as that does clarify how things worked out.

There aren't any such tiers... its just a randomized snaking order of the players and then each player gets their highest ranked selection.

It is possible in a 10-player FFA for the 9th player on the randomized list to get stuck with his 9th selection despite it being the 1st selection of the last player on the list.
