I tried to make this earlier but my clever ladder partner (take a bow The Offender invited lots of non members so I had to delete)

The idea goes like this - it's very simple.

I will run a tournament using the ladder settings for 2v2 teams. It will be a knock-out competition and only members may join.

You do not need to join with your ladder partner - or be on the 2v2 ladder to join. But you do need to be a member.

If there is interest in this and it is successful I would like to run it fairly regularly. I am also open to the idea of making later tourneys to echo the seasonal settings (but adjusted for 2v2) So possibly the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th (and so on) versions of this will use season 1,2,3 4's (and so ons) settings.

The tournament could also incorporate wildcard entries from non-members? Through winning a qualifier or invitation? Though I think those entrants should be limited? if allowed at all.

Sounds good to me, especially the idea about following the seasonal ladder settings. If your intention is to let only the best non-members join I'm sure someone like The Don or Heyheuhei could provide you with a select invite list, so talk to them.

There are a lot of good non members - by invitational I meant a group consensus like Dunga's votes - I mean you can't limit it to The Don and Heyheuhei (no offence Yuan).

But (apart from the time taken [to finish a qualifying tourney]) I lean towards holding some round robins for the wild card and having the non members qualify that way (it is fairer than opinion I think and allows for up and coming players better).

What do you think on the whole about allowing some non-members as a wild card? And if you think yes - how many? 10%?

Since you're allowing all members to join, what if you let non-members join only if they partner with a member?

Because then it wouldn't be like the ladder / season's
