Introduction- The Player vs The World event is the second event of its kind. One of the best players in Warlight, Odin will be playing a game against the world, with 'the world' voting on their favourite set of moves, which has been decided by a panel of 7 players. The most popular version will be executed. See (http://warlight.net/Forum/Thread?ThreadID=38816 for more details.

Last turn Option B was most popular...
Take South America, blockade China.

+2 Brazil, +2 Argentina, +1 Jiangxi, 3v2 Bolivia, 3v2 Venezuela, blockade Jiangxi with 2

Not a bad turn. Looks like Odin 8v2 in Scan first order, and deployed 3 to Norway to complete bonus.

+1 Ufa +8 Venezuela, 4v2 Archangelsk, transfer 1 army in Bolivia

{B}
Move towards Scan, repel CA.

+1 Ufa +8 Venezuela, 4v2 Archangelsk, transfer 1 army in Bolivia, attack Cuba with 2

{C}
Move towards Scan, make 4 delays, repel CA
+6 Venezuela, +1 Brazil +1 Colombia +1 Ifa

Transfer 1 army from Colombia and Brazil to Venezuela, transfer 1 army in Bolivia, Transfer 1 from Venezuela to colombia, 4v2 Moscow, attack Cuba with 5.

{D}
Move towards Scan, make 3 delays, repel CA
+6 Venezuela, +1 Brazil +1 Colombia +1 Ifa

Transfer 1 army from Colombia and Brazil to Venezuela, transfer 1 army in Bolivia,, 4v2 Moscow, attack Cuba with 6.

I voted B. Odin has many leftovers in Scan meaning he can probably outdelay us easy. Moscow is also the obvious choice and he has a big stack since he did a 8v2 attack in Scan first order, so we should go through Archangelsk is wiser.

I think he know we have SA, and he have no business in attacking SA, or even making a threat there. I don't understand why all options focus on SA, you should attack Scandinavia harder.

Something like:
{W}
+5 Venezuela, +4 Ufa, 7vs2 Moscow, transfer in Bolivia

Hello

In the past there was always only one sound move for Odin and he played the game precise (and predictable). Now the game got more complicated for him. He knows we have South America. Us expanding there also gives him the intel that we are in Russia, if he didn't already knew.

Odin will expect us to deploy the vast majority of our armies in South America and move with 4v2 towards Scandinavia.

I think there are some good reasons for Odin to move strong (enough) into Russia:
- Not allowing us to border Scandinavia
- Ability to threaten to break South America and to eliminate us from Russia at the same time
- and thus mainting the attacking position that he needs to negate the +1 income difference.
(- Maybe us not getting a card piece.)

I don't know exactly how Odin will play it. However, I'm pretty sure that outdelaying Odin is pointless if he joins in. Also the options that seem safe aren't that safe if he manages to put pressure on Russia. I think I agree with the idea of Widzisz.

Pressuring ca is imo an obvious move since what we want to avoid is any kind of double border near sa. 9vs8 income will become significant very soon, so a very sensible move for Odin is to try and open a new front in SA. If he tries to attack directly, he won't break us and he'll be a card piece down, wihch would put us in a great spot next turn, however if we paly passively, next turn we'd have to guess which front he'll attack in ca and considering we'd get cards next turn that does not look good. In any case I considered going hard in russia, however trading sa for scan seems very counterproductive.

I don't like that solution because it assumes Odin WILL focus on SA. Yea, your moves are better if he does, but are bad if he doesn't. What if he just focus on Russia and blockade CA?

If he ONLY moves in russia and blockades ca it is an automatic win for us, since next turn we will have the card and he will never eliminate us.

C is pretty much a won game no matter what Odin does. Defense of 6 makes it so 8v6 won't break SA. We have enough delays to handle hitting end of turn. He has as many delays as us, to be safe I'd rather delay to order 7, but I don't see many options for that. So he can't break SA, and we can move forward in Scand. If he moves to double border SA, we take Cuba. If he tries to break SA he'll undoubtedly do it first order to avoid letting a leftover he hasn't seen from Brazil come into play. If he tries to make the move on us in Scand, he'll lose his border of SA. The only way Option C loses is if he delays to order 7 and takes Venezuela.

Under which circumstances are there supposed to be leftovers in Brazil? Odin should know the exact outcome of our turn 1 move and he asks himself at present whether our other 3v2 attack in South America failed.
