Sometimes, when I open a game to see the new chat, I see something like: "Good idea". And because I have got 38 games, I've forgot what idea it is. So I want to look a few lines back, but because we were discussing strategy, or just talked a lot, it would take a long time for them all to load, when I basically only want to read the last few lines.
So I think a proper solution would be to add a button that loads only the last 5 chats. Of course, that number could be changed, but I think 5 is enough.
Any comments?

what if you do it by turn number rather than lines of chat? eg chat from the last 3 turns.

Seriously, you can't wait a few extra minutes/minute for chat?

Moros is not asking for an urgent change, but anything which makes Warlight seem more professional and polished is an improvement. Just like putting the maps on seperate pages did. Without a big server upgrade, there is no other way to have the chat load faster, therefore this is a good idea.

Also, in complex games, with lots of chat and that you often have to click back and forth between the game and chat repeatedly, those minutes add up and make things cumbersome.

For the average game where at most you'll load the older chat once or twice it isn't really needed.
