Again, 3200 is the limit, 3100 or 3000 isn't...

There's a hole in Iceland. I'm not sure if it is intentional or not, but it is irking me right now.

Well, if you count frozen water as water, you would also need to dramatically alter Greenland (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/8b/Topographic_map_of_Greenland_bedrock.jpg) and Antarctica (http://i993.photobucket.com/albums/af52/zegarkus/meltantartica.jpg).

@deymen The "lake" in question is actually a glacier. While a frozen lake is formed by water collecting in a depression/basin and then being frozen, a glacier is formed by snow/precipitation collecting at a mountain top, forming into ice and then slowly sliding down the mountain. Frozen lakes are typically have a melting season where the ice melts, while glaciers melt only near its end. Greenland and Antarctica also have glaciers and are primarily icecap, so they are not frozen lakes either.

many parts of the map could be maps in their own right

for example, the usa part could bridge the gap between small and big usa

As the first thing I have to say that my comment will obviously not be objective, as we doing so similar maps.

Then I can give you some advice, that was given to me by Fizzer in the other thread. Use SVG file optimizer. The newer versions of inkscape have one built in. Just 'save as', then change the file extention to 'optimized .SVG file' and that should do. In my case the file size dropped by 25.2%, that should be helpful enough.

The other advice is a bit late, but you should name the territories while making them. Now you have 2000 territories to name, and I can't even imagine how boring it will be for you to name them all! Also, if you want to name them properly, instead of just something like 'Nigeria 1', 'Nigeria 2', 'Nigeria 3'... then you will have to redo a lot of work, cause you will have to find proper divisions in the web again.

The next points could be threated as another advices, but if you considered them, then your map would look just like mine, so it's just some blabbering about why do I think my map is better ;) (Also an attempt to defend my creation from those comparing the maps in this thread :P)

- You're using the same color for all of the small bonuses inside bigger one. If you used similar shades of said color, then it would be looking much more clear.

- You were drawing each territory instead of dividing the paths (--> wiki). That makes them look quite bad in close view. Take a closer look on Burkina Faso on both maps and you'll see what I mean.

- You've used Mercator Projection, while I've chosen Aitoff Projection. Of course both of them have drawbacks, but Aitoff's has less. Just look at Greenland on your map, it's the size of Africa! But that's only aesthetical. You've also ended up with very small territories in the southern part of the map, and very big ones in the northern part, which is the most important drawback of using Aitoff Projection.

- On your map you can cross an Ocean in 2 moves, which make it looks like it was no barrier at all :)

There should be 'which is the most important drawback of using Mercator Projection.'

Also, I don't mean that your map is bad or anything like that. You did great, not so many people can do so much work just to create a big map :)

I think now with 2/3rd of the map done it's to late to change the projection... You can't simply reshape the map like that. The same counts for the bonus borders. I must say they look pretty good for hand-work.
And the part about crossing the ocean in two moves: it's still more than on most earth maps, where you cross it in 1 or zero moves. (that means they are connected through a yellow line, without any islands)
I do agree on the bonus colouring part.

Personally I love the Mercator projection, it doesn't make the (excuse me) more 'important' countries look like ellipses >.>

I'd like to test/ play on the map please send an invite!
