Belts Discussion

This is a thread to discuss 4 new belts that I want to start

For those of you not familiar the basics are as follows:

The Idea is based on the boxing belts they win after a fight.

One player/team will hold the belt and all bragging rights that go with it

Other players/teams will take it in turns to challenge the Belt holders to a match. If they win they will become the new belt holders and so on

Any player/team wishing to challenge for the belt must say so on the thread and you will be placed on the list.

The belt holder is responsible for the forum thread which involves keeping the list up to date, posting links to games and inviting the next challenger to the game.

I have already recently started a clan belt see here for details

http://warlight.net/Forum/Thread.aspx?ThreadID=4324

so I thought I would get 4 more going and wanted to see what everyone else thought these 4 should be.

I was thinking a 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and a 6player FFA all non clan related

If it was my personal choice I would like to see different maps to the normal used. However for the sake of the community and what I think you guys want I was thinking

1v1 strategic medium earth ladder settings
2v2 something different not ladder settings (I quite like Treasure map for 2v2 but open to suggestions)
3v3 Europe (im not to familiar with good settings for this so you guys will have to advise)
6player FFA on European Borders (this is a very nice newish map for FFA)

What do you guys think?

The only main problem I can see with this is non members sending invites with 75% luck and i can only see 2 ways round this.

Either allow luck levels to be either 16% or 75% depending on whether the belt holder is a member or not

Or non members have to find a member to create the game.

None of these are ideal so would like to hear what you guys think

I'll set up games if people send me the required settings.

Also I'll sign up for the 1v1 now if I may?

And the 2v2 and 3v3 I am happy to join a team with those I know well.

You might as well let people choose there settings for the belt - champions box with home advantage after all.

Though you could stipulate something along the lines of a super-bout (one of those in L.A or Wembley they do for the cash and promotion) Where there could be a vote on map and settings from the community. This might stop a specialist on a certain map holding all the bouts on that map.

Another idea borrowed from boxing could be mandatory challengers. You can keep the sign up system for assigning challengers and also run small round robins. When there is a winner of a Round Robin - the belt holder is obliged to accept a challenge from that team.

^^ Some ideas off the top of my head hope there are of some use. Keep up your good inventions mac.

Oh the super-bout would be held after a mandatory amount of defences, like 2 or 5. That you can decide - forgot to add that.

Eeeek triple posting, my apologies. My 2v2 partner should be the offender though.

Perhaps 2v2 can be mddle Earth. I made a great version of it. I can set up a game on it and see what you think.

SKA2D2 i think you are missing the point slightly. its meant to be an easy system that just runs by itself. no need for super bouts or round robins it should be simple. holder challangers next in line and so on and so on.

i had the home advatage thing on the clan belt so wanted to do something a little different here with specific maps. The idea of a speciallist holding the belt for a while. i think thats the point really if they are good at 3v3 europe they should get the credit

Please dont sign up here this is mearly to talk about the options. i will start the threads once we iron out a few things

im pretty set for the way the system will work i just want help of maps and settings really

trust me once we get it going and people get into the way belts work they will be a lot of fun

Ok no problem, both options were just ideas for you to muse, the super-bouts thing was to see about more involvement from the community and I somehow got the idea you were wondering about what maps to use. The round robin was simply because you likened it to boxing so I offered the idea that every so often there may be a challenger who came through the ranks so to speak. But I really don't mind how you do it - it is a good idea.

Good luck.

I'm not intersted in the belt but if it may be helpful i can say that the most played and balanced settings for europe 3v3 are: 4 manual random warlords, no cards or wastelands.

Pink can you ask {WM} if they want to join the clan belt? We need all the support that we need.

Honestly, I don't really see the need to specify a map for this. I think it should be more along the lines of the clan belt in terms of the holder getting to pick the map, with the only rules being it must be 1v1, 2v2, or whatever the number of players are. I think that would make for some more interesting games as well as showcase a number of good underplayed maps.

to be honest i feel the same way. i just thought people wanted to see specific maps to make it more of an even match. i personally like the idea of the Belt holder having the slight advantage and choosing the maps. As you say CEBearsfan, its a nice way to showcase good unplayed maps
