Iran - Nigeria, my favourite game so far. Iran reminded me of my team, crystal palace, who finished 11th in england this year. The team is based on a resolute defense, constantly pressing, and making the most out of a few chances (okay, Iran might not have that bit yet ... but they did more than Nigeria really). Possession 30-70.

Lots of people were disappointed when our manager was brought in because of his negative tactics. Likewise, from neutrals, there's a lot of criticism of Iran's style of play, and their perspective is entirely from the opposition. "What are nigeria doing wrong, nigeria are playing very poorly, what can nigeria do to win the game, let's look at nigeria's chances" etc. Nigeria are playing badly because Iran aren't letting them play, and now they can't think of anything.

Boo hoo, there were no goals. Whatever. You shouldn't be watching games of football if you can't appreciate a good defensive side. Yeah I like golazos too, but it takes 20 seconds to score a goal and 95 minutes to keep a clean sheet. There's nothing more thrilling than a game where a "worse" side plays defensive and strangles the opposition. Listening to the expectant commentators just waiting for the fancy team to score their inevitable goal, but constantly being denied. Every now and then a rapid counter-attack for Iran, then back to the attrition in the defensive third. A set piece or two for Iran, and you know this might be their only moment to score.

Either team could score at any moment, and if they do, it will practically be game over. That's even more exciting than an end-to-end game where a goal goes in, it's not so important, because there will probably be 5 more before the end of the game. Can't wait for iran - argentina which will get better and better for every minute Iran keep their clean sheet. If they score, I hope they win 10-0, but until then, I only want to see tackles.

Im laughing at all the people who expected iran to be whooping boys in the group. We used to have epic offense but crap defense but our new coach swapped those. We did have the best chance of the game against nigeria aswell :)

Mulva - seeing as how Bosnia and Argentina are in the same group as Nigeria and Iran it is foolish to say that a draw is a good result.
Bosnia and Argentina are the teams to beat here and drawing amongst each other will probably just result in Nigeria and Iran both not ending in the top 2

Really? I thought it was the worst one so far ;)
Not because no goals were made or because it ended up equal (mostly those games are very exciting), but because both teams just seemed so amateur for a WC. No real exciting action happened.

Congratulations Belgium! It was a lot like the Netherlands-Spain game: they sucked in the first half, it went 0-1 because of a penalty, but they recovered and made some good goals and won in the second.

Netherlands just were so bad in that last game - we so didn't deserve to win

Australia should have at least been able to draw seeing how bad we were

On the other hand, Australia played real dirty and the referee seemed to have closen his eyes for their play.

I was very upset when they got that free kick because it touched his hand. I was just like...... "Is it possible we can contact someone in the stand to possible shoot the ref?"

Jup, Spain seems to be out :D Penalty against the Netherlands was pure bullshit. He shot right on the hand, no way he could avoid it (In Dutch we call it "aangeschoten", but I don`t know the english term for it)
