Hello all.

I just wanted to do a bit of a straw poll. At the moment I'm playing very slow. It's partly because I want to keep my playing on this site sensible, and it's partly because I'm very busy at the moment. Either way, it's not going to change, it's either slow or not at all.

I've been getting a few complaints recently, and as far as I can see, not from people who just complain for the sake of it.

I wanted to get an idea of whether people like myself playing to the 3 day time limit often are seen as a problem by the laddering community. I understand it means people have to flick through their history every turn against me, etc.

Anyway feedback would be appreciated, if I find that it's seen as a problem by most, I'll drop out of the ladders, but with no hard feelings.

Thanks.

Unless you are obviously losing or they are at max games already, it shouldn't be a big deal. That said, some people are already at max games, and that can be annoying, especially if it's happening in more than one of their games.

Dear Window Cleaner,

You are a real stand up guy to have taken into account the hopes and desires of your fellow players. I don't think you have anything to worry about. The rules are in place to accommodate all players, regardless of race, creed, gender, country of origin, sexuality, or playing speed. The more open the rules are, the greater the benefit to the wider warlight community. I for one couldn't imagine what the ladders would be like without the involvement and contributions of great and wonderful players such as yourself. Be proud of your playing speed. Embrace it.

Sincerely yours,

CT#!

I don't mind slow players, but would be great to add a notepad to get rid of going through history to get all information you got by watching enemies moves and interpreting them :)

I don't do this, but it seems like a good idea.

Just have a Word document (or Pages for people like me) with little headings for each game. Powerpoint/Keynote would work well too. You could have a slide per game, and bullet point things about the game.

it would be nice to have a team chat in the strategic 1V1 ladder to take notes, not sure if this is doable
i use team chat sometimes to take notes for multiday games when for some reason i end up as a team of 1

It would be nice to have a game specific notepad of sorts. I find myself using the team chat function a lot when returning to games that I haven't played in a few days, but that's not an option for 1v1 or FFA.

In team games my teammate and I write down lots of thoughts about the game, including potential locations for the other team, general thoughts about strategy, how many troops we saw them use, if we know of any card use on their behalf, etc. Now that I've used it so much, I really miss it in those 1v1 games.

I agree. We need to be able to put notes for each game.

Sorry to continue off topic, but there is a suggestion in the Uservoice for this already titled Notepad attached to MD games. I made a comment very similar to what Duke of Ben just said a few months back. It currently has only 20 votes, so please place you votes and move it up the priority ladder. I do beleive this is a function that many would like.

@TWC - I would say that it is ok, as long as you are doing it because that's how you want to play. (If you were dragging out an obviously lost game, just to try and help your ranking or whatever, then that would be different).

Myself, I prefer to (usually) play games faster than that, but it isn't something I would get upset about you doing. People can always increase their game-count if they feel they are missing out on games.

I have no problem at all with slow players. The ladders have a 3 day limit and your playing within the rules of the game. Yes, there are some players that will take exception if they even think that you are taking too long. Winning the game will usually shut them up. My one exception would be the seasonal ladder, because there is a set ending date. I think once it gets to the last week or so, everyone should make an effort to finish the games assigned to them, and not have the computer decide them using a math formula.

i'd like to see an increase in the ladder-games-at-the-same-time cap, 5 really isn't much (i have 60 games total going on, so its really nothing). i think 10 would be better and it would make anyone taking ages for games insignificant, when 2-3 players are stalling then that can be over half your games when you're at the cap, let alone when you're below cap :/
