Do you need to be smart to be good at warlight? Let's start a conversation with some tea and buscuits lol

i dont believe that the best player (if, by some strange reason, we could find one) in warlight is much smarter than many of the other good players, but he certainly isnt dumber than most ppl i play with

For example, most people find the Ais to be extremely foolish. Since they dont make good decisions, most players can beat them. The same goes with actual people.

Yeah sorry i was typing this before your comment, but when i posted it, it came after yours.

In general i would say yes, logical thinking is a key component in beeing a good player. But, not everybody smart has to be good, if they are to lazy to use their heads ;)

Last statement is often true for me. I could think much deeper into most games i play (if you have the time of course) but just dont have the patience for it. So i mostly play for the fun of it.

To turn the whole thing on it's head (ah-hah): someone being good at this game does not show that he/she is "smart". It just shows that he/she is good at this game.

Well, it is a game and it is for the fun of it. Do you always use all your braincells for everything you do ;)

I think you have to be intelligent to become a top player. It requires a lot of concentration and trying to outguess your opponent and using your imagination to think of all possibilities. Many times, a top player will beat a lower player because they do a move the lower person didn't think was a possibility. I think just about anybody can be an average player though. Once you get to the top 20 or so of the ladder though, I think you must be very intelligent.

i believe that everyone agrees u have to be inteligent to be a top players, but some intelligent people rnt all that good for several reasons:
-they r relaxing while playing rather than usign their full capability
-lack of experience (prediction of other's moves comes partly from this)
-not everyone's intelligence is identical, so u may actually be smart and not be a top player in warlight (intelligence comes mostly from a good analysis, but u may good at analysing something different kidn of contents)
-god is against some smart people and the luck in games always attack some more than other

i'm right handed, so to make it fair when i'm playing people who are less good than me i always play with my left hand. surprisingly i win anyway, which is obviously proof of my genius :)

First: Being smart is a subjective. So you cant even say if someone is smart as a fact (since the smartest human could be dumb compared to a computer).

Second: There is no absolute definitive of smart. (Understates the above statemement i know) When is someone smart? When he can calculate huge numbers, when he knows lots about quantum mechanics, or when he knows how to cherish friendship?

Third: Being good in Warlight mostly means you have lots of experience.
you didnt solely become good because you were smart, it had more to do with all the games you've played. After countless of games you now have a regular set of moves you repeat over and over depending on the situation.
You know how most people react, where the best starting positions are and when to attack or defend.

So in my opinion everybody can become a good Warlight player regardless wether he's smart or not.
I want to state that this is all my own hypotheses and is not the definitive truth.
Also im not a proffesional player.

^I agree with the above but I think that being smart helps.

@warflow playing with your weaker hand only menans you play slower it does not affect your thinking.
