In the book Outliers, author Malcolm Gladwell says that it takes roughly ten thousand hours of practice to achieve mastery in a field.

...Which is definitely the most interesting aspect of the book. The rest is the usual Malcolm Gladwell generalizations, over-simplifications and false correlations.

But it made me wonder how many games the top players have dedicated to WL, and how many hours that translates to. For instance, Gnuff has played over 7000 games with his main, and who knows how many more with his alts. That must be 10.000 right there, no?

Gnuff- without revealing specific alts, can you approximate how many games/hours you've played? Who else might have that many games/hours under their belts?

you should consider the alt with more games are inferno and the gladiators. But 95% of their games were the 2v2/3v3 that i was used to play controlling all the team (so gnuff +inferno +glad)
I was used to play like 5/6 gmaes for h i think.
But only around 7000 (overall all account) are realtime i think.

so 1000/1200 h. the MD games i was used to commit from the app in the train, so no time wasted :P

I am sure i am not who played the higher number of games.

Boston and Beelz played more.

1000/1200 is a vast underestimation.

A warlight teamgame, takes at least 20 minutes in average if not more.

7000 games, 1000 hours? Yeah, no.

You don't spend an average of 8 minutes playing each game.

I would consider 7,000 games to be closer to 3,000 hours. 3 minute turns, 8 turns per game (seems to be average length in my experience).

Even if making moves in under a minute your opponents aren't, and you're likey thinking what to do the next turn before the current turn finishes.

yes, but play time also encompasses sitting around and considering your moves. Not just pressing the buttons.

That's not the point potato, you are thinking about what to do the following turn during the time between when you commit and when the opponent does surely.

Beezlbu on his main alone has 13000 games or something like that, he must surely be the best player on warlight! Gnuffone merely has a petty 7,000

Well I guess none of us are masters then because at an average of 30 minutes a game even the most prolific players have only 6-7000 hours played if that.
