I'm working on a map called Район России. It's aimed to be something like the big Roman Empire map, only for Russian history and over a much larger time span (Kievan Rusь to Russian Federation). It's also going to be around 3000 territories, with each territory counting for about 500'000 people.
Here is a map of what it will encompase (Slot B is the USSR, just for reference).

Russia, Iran and Ukraine are probably going to have the most territories.

So, I've divided it up into five missions:

1. Naming and Planning (In process of)

2 (continued). However, I do want to list Russian words and pictures of them (Like they do in the Roman map), with порох (gunpowder), пулемет (machine gun) and ракета (missile), and I want to include 4 enlarged cities: Москва (Moscow), Санкт-Петербург (Saint Petersburg), Київ (Kiev) and Toshkent (Tashkent).

So, while I'm doing number 1, it would be helpful if somebody started doing Mission 2 and Mission 3, and maybe help out in Mission 4, and Mission 5 will be co-op!

The reason I'm not doing this is because I tried...and I'm utterly useless at Inkscape.

So, anybody up to the task, just PM me and/or reply here.

1.5 billion people? Unless your vicinity map features parts of China or India your numbers are way off.

Well, it does feature parts of China, it has half of Europe, Iran, and Northern Asia. Also, I was originally going to put it for 250'000 people per territority, but then I decided to change to 500'000 people per territory, so that might be the reason.

So, are you going to include the Baltic states, Moldova, Finland, Afghanistan and Mongolia?

I am curious, why are you including Iran?

Well, I tried Inkscape, but it bemuddles me...I'm bound to make many mistakes, especially with a map 2500+ territories.

Yep, Baltic States, Moldova, Finland, Afghanistan and Mongolia are all there, 100%.

I included Iran because Russia had a couple of wars with Persia, and the Russian empire had influence on Northern Persia. Also, I wanted to include all the -(st)an countries, but Pakistan would have more territories than Russia if I follow the 500'000 rule.

I'm wondering, how would Pakistan have more territories than Russia? What reference maps are you using?

because Pakistan's population is larger than russia's.

Sounds like this map will play out kind of like Issander's Europe Population density.

I was inspired, but it will actually have normal bonuses; i.e. Oblasts, Countries, Regions, etc. Think of it as a cross between the Rome Map and the Issander's Europe.

if you dont get along with inskape you should absolutely use Paint, it has lots of drawing tools, it very cool ;)
