This is a great game being ruined by ineffective severs & advertising greed. This week the site was totally down. Warlight sort yourself out.
Give us our game back. Ditch the 8 sec no ad, why should we be further harassed. Find a less intrusive way of displaying ads. Perhaps drop the additional loading and layering of the ads until you sort the other issues out.
WarLight's average server response time these days is about 50 milliseconds. Whatever is causing it to be slow for you, it isn't WarLight's server. I would recommend running a traceroute on warlight.net to try and see where the issue is.
The ads don't even come from WarLight's servers, they come from Google's. So if those are slow for you too, (and timing out, as it sounds like they are), it really sounds like the problem is with your ISP or somewhere between your ISP and the internet.
Since when is the game YOURS? You have given absolutely nothing for the privilege of playing this game... it has been completely and totally free and yet you decide that you somehow own the game? That the creator is somehow behold to YOU for your deigning to play HIS game?!

Desi I feel that there is a big difference in WL now and years ago. It feels like you are playing on dial-up now rather than broadband.
There is alot of interference from the ads. Simple tasks take ages as the system spins refreshing. Others do not feel the same, fine.
I do not feel it is acceptable that Richard Sharpe's reply is so personally insulting & full of vulgarity.
