Well, just some name tips if you want.

In Portugal:
Northern Portugal -> Norte
Central Portugal -> Centro
They are the "official" names of that regions, I don't know why I always see them like you have them in the map...

In Spain:
Basque Country -> Northern Spain
The most of this territory is not from the Basque Country, it always looked really annoying to me.
Barcelona -> Catalonia
Barcelona is just the capital city of Catalonia, and the name of their nearby regions, but the territory in the map is better represented with the name of Catalonia.

And just a question, why do you break Gotland from Sweden and Corsica from France?

Thanks, Alex.

It is not about geographical correction or official names on this map. It was made for strategic 2v2, 3v3 gameplay. Just better version of Trolls Europe.

Thanks for taking the time to make more maps. This is definitely an improvement on the fridge version. It looks prettier than trolls europe but does it play better? Troll had the cajones to leave big useless bonuses (italy, ukraine) intact and give the smaller ones some breathing room. Thats what lead to the islands v centre v russia dynamic that makes the map strategic. You have carved everything up and made it all worth less income. Maybe what you have added will replace the old dynamic with your new one. I look forward to seeing how it plays.

Hello

This is (in my opinion) the best map in warlight. I don't understand dead piggys definition of 'strategic'. With some experience you could pick the old europe map pretty much without turning on your brain. This map however has an imense amount of viable picking strategies. For every picking strategy there seems to be a possible counter strategy against which this strategy will lose. This will require much of teamwork in teamgames while this (really) wasn't true for the old europe map. Those big bonus are very viable in terms of income / territory ratio but you probably should have your teammates backing you off when going for one of those.

Maybe this map should be played with 3 base income.

"you could pick the old europe map pretty much without turning on your brain" No

"For every picking strategy there seems to be a possible counter strategy against which this strategy will lose" That is called pick lottery and it is not a good thing

--> Usually the warlords are adjusted in a way that there are 1-3 bonuses that always work out. For example an uncountered first turn Denmkark. No reason not to pick Denmkark then, no teammates needed to watch your bag, just go for it. I call this picking lottery since only one team can get Denmark.

Here you pay a huge prize for your first turn Denmark pick since you only get 1 income. You can't allow your opponents to get away picking the huge bonuses like Eastern Turkey. But going for it yourself can horribly backfire if you don't have a team plan.

Yeah it sucks when that happens, in reality it seems not to be much of a problem, some settings are worse offenders for it than others. The team that gets that one awesome pick loses plenty, especially if they made the rest of their picks without turning their brains on. The team that doesnt get denmark will get the 2nd and 3rd best picks which are probably only slightly worse and a good competitive game can ensue.

Piggy, couldn't the problems with this map you talked about be rectified by the template? Adding wastelands and changing bonus values may allow it to be played more like Troll's Europe if you so desired.

Any rock/paper/scissors situation is bad. A few simple obvious options that interact in obvious ways are boring and bad. Strategy and tactics operate in the grey zone where you cant quite tell which option is better. Ideally a distribution would have one incredibly difficult to find ideal picking strategy and lots of other worse options, some only a bit worse, some absolutely terrible. That gives lots of room for people to be clever, or as we call it 'play warlight'. On this map it would be hard to pick really badly without doing it on purpose. As you mentioned, every picking strategy on this map (probably) has a very easy counter, that would take little skill to operate, which means there is no really good picking strategy either. That makes the map bad.

I just had a thought, its probably good for autodistribution for all the reasons its bad as a strategyic map. which would be awesome, autodistribute templates are very hard to make fun.

while it might be a bit better suited for it than other maps, autodistribution is still far too eratic to be useful.

Actually there was no need to remove Northern Ireland from the Ireland bonus because it was used for the geographic term (i.e. the island), not the political term (i.e. the country called the Republic of Ireland).

I also think Rome should be part of southern Italy. That way, it stops the current Southern Italy bonus being 1 straight line of territories.
