I figured that much, but thought it needed explaining anyways considering how this forum works ;).

@piggy Will Sze prove he is the best? He doesn't need to. Our 100+ games don't matter. The ladders don't matter. What others think doesn't matter. Only Sze's opinions matter. And he is the best in his mind. He is the chosen one. Problem solved.

That thread gives me a headache... Gui, you disappoint me yet again. A short recap:

me: ... I have no idea how to respond now, I answered Gui who was not interested i an answer. I posted my subjective list and no one likes it since I should have said who I would NOT have on this list... That'd be more effective. it seems... I am kinda active real-time nowadays, so if you really are offended by what I wrote (which would be childish) just play with me, nothing more, nothing less. I make the mistake of treating what Gui writes seriously, I'll try not to make this mistake again.

Anyway I think that there is a lack in Gui's critiques.
The initial provocative question referred to who is now the best player.

Instead Gui you pointed out simply that sze is not a perfect player, about wich I totally agree, as I totally agree with In all honesty, your inflexibility is why you will never be the best. To be the best, you need to be flexible like water. You are hard like stone. Water > stone. even if I'd apply this statement more to a long run situation.

So the fact you think that sze's opinion about himself is exagerated is a clear fact, but I would like if you can really and honestly answer the jsa's question that refers just to the present, not to the future, not to the past.

And of course as an answer you should not only say that sze is not perfect but you should name who are the players or the player that are currently active and who are better than sze:/

Sze backpeddling. I can offer a recap too. Sze: "Everyone knows I think I am the best even though I have played Gui over 100 times and have a losing record. But after me I would.say myhand is best because I played with him over 600 times, including about 500 games after Gui lost interest in being my teammate because he thought I liked to join the best teams possible, relied too much on my better teammates and then.used my teams victories as a soft argument to prove (a) I belong in the conversation of best player and (b) I am in fact the best player. And since it takes me so long to understand how other people think, the 600 games with myhand have been sufficient for me to say how good he is. But 100 games with Gui are not enough. This is also the same with maps: I tend to need 600 games on maps with new strategies, but Saladin, myhand and Gui might need only 100 to know it in and out."

Warflow, you created this same thread. Nobody bit. There is provocative discussion here and you say "it's not meant to be provocative, it's only meant to be utterly meaningless fun." If that is what you want, invite yuri to a game and engage in utterly meaningless chat with him. Or just follow him around and talk with him on the forum.

Sze made a list. I will too. Players I think are better than Sze in overall ability across game modes, maps and settings:

Saladin: better at more maps, overall about equal at classic games, doesn't need to talk so much in team chat bc he anticipates better and understands others better.

Fatih: better at 1v1s, better at more maps, not as good at team games but close. The clincher: Fatih is one of the best 5 on wl at FFAs and Sze doesn't play FFAs, which require a flexibility and patience I wouldn't consider Sze's strengths.

Myhand: The clincher: myhand knows how to play FFAs better and is better at more maps.

Dreuj: Sze is better at classic games (3v3 ENC & 1v1 ME). Dreuj is better at more maps and FFAs.

Me: 3v3/2v2 ENC: me. FFAs: me. More maps: me. Multiattack: me. 1v1 ME: not much difference, even though I won 60% (with these games there comes a point when it feels more like playing paper scissors stone than anything truly strategic, so I have stopped caring about my wins or losses in these games). What are you better at? Obsessive calculations. You playas if the game is ttheory. I treat it as art. You calculate. I paint.

HHH: maybe, since he plays more maps and is probably better at FFAs.

Dunga: If he knew how to play ENC team games.

Unknown: maybe, since he is more consistent across maps, modes and settings, even if Sze is better at Europe team games.

I'll admit I never played ffa's since they require a completely different set of skills which I was not able to measure in any kind of objective sense. If you are right and there is an overall skill to ffa's then you are right, I definitely have no experience in that area (I was actually unaware that there was a competetive scenes of ffa's). If that is the case I'll agree with you and fatih as better overall players on that account, thought I am looking forward to a time when you come back to competetive 2vs2/3vs3 scene. I never said I was better than myhand and I agree with what you wrote completely.

I suspect that only about 20-30 people on here are actually qualified to make the judgement on who is better, and I am not one of them.
