Can I help?
"I can't spell that well , so what? Spelling doesn't mean a lot in today's educational society."

and Err , Spelling kinda does matter. I don't know which "Society" is the person from , but they must be tolerant enough to ignore petty spelling mistakes , to which the person who's speaking obviously mistakes for not caring.
I mean if I begin speaking like ,

hay dood , hwz it goin been awhile huhh
hao yu been?

Just because the person is able to understand what gibberish the other is on about , doesn't mean it doesn't bother the person listening. Using Alright-Correct helps in expressing yourself better , that's the actual point of grammar. JMO.

Well I could care less lol , although my intention was not to insult him , there were only a few punctuation marks missing in his sentence.
I was speaking in general , btw.

Yep. In todays modern world, i will just just use a example to prove it.

I dont know how many of you are formilular with the British Educational System but its my example.

In GCSEs spelling counts for about 5% of the GSCE in English.

So a student can still achieve the max grade of A* if they have not very good spelling.

Me not having the best of spelling (but not the worst either,) have several A*s of which in english being a few of these A*s.

Good luck surviving in the real world with that kind of spelling ability. It may not matter much in the academic world but it sure as shite does in the professional world.

Next time you apply for a job, won't you use a CV? I know for a fact that applicants can be turned down for bad handwriting (in some cases, applications are requested to be handwritten) or bad 'SPG' (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar).

In school, yes it may not matter so much (though I think it should) but school isn't the real world. Do you think somebody would like to employ somebody who makes English mistakes most of my class at 11 wouldn't have? I don't.

Saying all of that, I can't base my opinion of your English on your forum posts. A lot of people don't bother writing in 'good' English on the forums or games (I never used to) but when needed, can write perfectly well (an assumption; I expect people can write with capital letters and full stops when they want to).

I haven't proof read this, so I'm hoping I haven't made mistakes after all of that ^^ :P

Also, your 5% point is irrelevant. I think it is highly unlikely most people will only lose 5% on everything apart from spelling so their spelling could be the difference from grades quite easily, and (I expect), commonly.

spelling is important when it comes to not looking like a mouth-breathing fucktard. but you should probably avoid being a semantic fucktard primarily.

lolowut, you are an american, therefore your opinion is invalid. you may criticise british spelling when you get the majority of your compatriots to believe in evolution (or eevoelooshun as skunk probably knows it as).

@Wilfred Owen - Don't worry, I saw the joke you were making. (In this case, the "ironry" of your sentence.)

In addition, this is where I will present, "What skunk940 should have typed"

Yep, in today's modern world, I (w-i-l-l)shall just (j-u-s-t) use a example to prove my point.

I don't know how many of you are familar with the British Educational System, but (i-t-s)here is my example.

In a class to earn a General Certificate of Secondary Education, spelling counts for about five percent of the requirements for earning a GSCE in English.

(S-o)Thus, a student can still achieve the maximum grade of A*[An A+?], even if they do not have (n-o-t) very good[Using perfect can work here] spelling.

(M-e)I do not have the best of spelling, but I do[/b] not have the worst either. I have several A*s, of which, in English (b-e-i-n-g a f-e-w o-f t-h-e-s-e)I have several A*s.

(Emphasis added for the convenience of the reader)

Granted, I will readily admit that I was being picky on some issues.

In addition, I feel that skunk940 might write better that a few of the classmates I had in High School. (Granted, I live in the United States. Go figure.)

(Though, you should know that the GCSE is being replaced with the "English Baccalaureate Certificate" in 2015.)

No such grade A+ in GCSE or IGCSE. Grades are A*, A, B, C ...
BTW it is pronounced A Star.

@Yuri Benderov - In Michigan, it still counts as part of a student's grade, but Spell Checker is used quite a bit. (Granted, I will admit that I have typed phrases into Google to see a suggestion of the proper usage to help reduce mistakes.)

@Wilfred Owen - Ah, thank you for that. I do not believe I have heard of an A✯ before.
