As the title already said most of what I wanted to say , I'll type it anyway
Am I the only one here who thinks 29.99 is a LOT for membership? Even though it's lifetime...
Okay , I know it's not TOO MUCH , I'm not poor or all that bollocks.
I'm just trying to say isn't 29.99 (Indirectly $30) still a lot for a game like warlight?
I'm not saying warlight sucks or anything , ofc I love playing it , it's a great way to kill time and all that , but the thing is even the lifetime membership of warlight costs a weee bit too much >.>
And the features you get which are actually useful are :-
Ability to create tournaments ,
Ability to control how much luck affects games you create ,
Maximum number of players you can invite to games you create (24) ,
and the Ability to play in ladders.

Other than that , I dont see the point of buying membership and quite honestly I can play and enjoy warlight even without those 4 features.
Imo , Warlight admins should host monthly or annual or semi annual contests , giving away memberships twice an year because I want the "membership abilities" too , but 30 dollars are still a lot for a membership with features this useful.
Please don't tell me I'm the only one here who thinks this?
(And if the admins do host the annual contests giving away memberships , can someone gimme a link or so to it? So that I can keep myself updated , ty.)

Yes. Too much is free. Not enough incentives for being a member.

No no no no no no no LOL
"Too much" is not free , Damn you huckleberry hahah.
The features for free players are good enough , it's just that the members need to have atleast more features or less costs.
Let's hope none of the admins notices your comment or else they might revoke the rights of free players to host multi-day games or god knows what lol.

Remember that Membership is for LIFE. Next, consider other games where you can pay for 'membership'. It is a lot more expensive. I've seen games where you can pay $30 for six months MAXIMUM.

Honestly , arun , what's the point of paying up $30's even for lifetime membership , if I'm just gonna get bored in the end and leave?
Most of the members here know like , a lot about the tactics and stuff , but in the end it's just a game and because it's just a game , you'll get bored eventually , so why the $30? If you see it from my perspective 30 dollars are a lot for a membership which practically offers no such mental satisfaction except for the "M" beside my name and a few other benefits.

As for the games with 30$ for 6 months , people must be either too stupid to pay for only 6 months or the game must provide something worth buying.

Let's take runescape as an example , it's both FTP and PTP (Free to play and Pay to play) , you can easily notice the difference and benefits in both versions of free players and paying players and in the end people do get bored and desert their runescape accounts too , because in the end , it's just a game , but atleast there's this mental satisfaction that they paid for something which was actually fun.

Jmo , lol.

(Also runescape is just an example , there are lot of games out there like that)

Or you could go to a stripper in the us and get a private lap dance for about $30. in asia $30 could get you an orgasm. can warlight do that?

Yes , warlight can :D
You can actually stimulate an orgasm to how extra-ordinarily attractive your income is.
I normally do that when my income exceeds 200 armies per turn.
I like the sound of private lap dance tho.

Oh that'd be lovely , you can host the virtual intercourse heaven anytime you wish.
I'd love to stimulate orgasms to my extra-ordinarily income.
I only wish to ask one thing from you now ,
Oh the wise Huckleberry , why do you divert the topic so badly D:

^Actually nevermind that , we're both equally responsible for that lol

Anyhow , getting back to the topic , why did the existing members pay for the membership anyway?

runescape is a childish game involving clicking and watching your character do something, 0 thinking involved, completely incomparable with warlight.
you basically said warlight wasn't fun (something along the lines of runescape = actually paying for something fun), if that's true why are you playing?
as for the "i think admins should give away free memberships because i want one", that's laughable xD

as for your question, i got the membership to be able to participate in ladders and to donate to an incredible game, one of the only ones besides chess and go that requires thinking and strategy

basicly u either decide to buy it or not, there already were created dozens of posts like this and it never gets anywhere. Don't you think its nice to support a game with no adds? i do, in additrion u will be able to do a few other things, get a membership or dont talk about it

Well compare it to buying Risk the board game, which is roughly £20 as well ($30) and look at the differences:
1) You can play any map, instead of the only one which comes on the board
2) You can play any time, even if you are by yourself, instead of waiting for family or friends wanting to play as well.
3) No picking up or settings up.
4) You can make your own maps.
5) Make your own settings, very complex
6) Play people other side of the world.

Only downsides to real risk is that it isn't very visual, but apart from that not much.

Therefore I think that for these reasons $30 (£20) is not too much to pay for a full-life membership.

@hedja
what you are saying is that 30$ for Risk the board game is expensive, but warlight is free, you don't have to pay in order to play warlight. you can pay 30$ just to unlock some features, but what you said above doesn't cost 30$, it's free. membership costs 30$, not warlight.

@Warlightvet :
I'm not comparing it with warlight , there's more than obviously no comparison , what I'm comparing is the F2P with P2P in runescape.
that there's a difference in both , if you see the benefits the P2P get in comparison TO the F2P , it's more than visible.
I think you mus-interpreted everything I just said and meant lol , no worries , what my main motive behind this topic is not JUST to lower the costs of membership , it's just the fact that the members don't have any great benefits , when compared to free players.

Anyway , I actually clicked on the link Min34 gave and read most of the replies , especially the creator's.
Well , I have to say one thing , the Free players are given enough rights and as visible , and the main intention of warlight is not to generate money or we could've seen different membership packages. So , I just don't want to say anything more in regards of the costs of membership , because mostly those wishing to buy it are originally those who wish to contribute to the warlight community in a way because members are not given any special benefits as such in warlight games. I've seen that already and used to appreciate that factor of warlight.
It's just that I wanted to buy the membership too , but seeing the prices I used to change my mind all the time and wanted to know WHY did the already existing members buy it.
So , Thanks for giving me the link to that thread Min34 , it helped me know more about existing member's perspective on buying membership.

And I'm so sorry schizo , My opinions aren't to your liking. You're completely right , I'm going to shut up from now on and think about all the horrible things I've done by creating this thread.

and @hedja , your comparison is actually kinda ridiculous haha , also board games are not that expensive lol.
