fred, what you're saying just doesn't make sense
more benefits for members = fewer benefits for f2p, if new member-only features are created it'll still be fewer for the f2p, since originally they'd have been f2p.

Well it depends. I absolutely hate 75% luck, and don't play any game with 75% luck now, which means I only join member's games or play strategic settings. I would buy a membership also because I want to play in the ladders with good players. It depends what you want added to warlight. If you are content with 75% luck matches, then a membership isn't very appealing.

It's definitely NOT too expensive. The only thing I would slightly prefer would be an account-based setup where you pay for membership and then can move the membership abilities to an alt somehow (ideally removing them from your current account when you do so so that you don't use this as a method gifting membership to other people, ie. still only 1 account with membership per $30.).

Membership price is what it is because these servers do cost money to operate. WarLight is actually not just a game, but it is technically a business. While the servers don't cost anything close to things like Google servers and what not, having a couple of 30$ memberships bought per day can certainly help WarLight from shutting down (and put a bit of well-deserved money into Fizzer's pocket). I didn't choose to get a membership lightly; I only bought after 1 year+ of playing.

i also initially thought the price was too expensive, but after playing almost daily for quite some months and noticing a special holidays discount (on xmas last year) i decided the game and Fizzer's efforts developing it was worth supporting.

Totally agreed Huckleberry , I thought most of my replies made it clear too :p
and yeah yuri , custom scenario's are fun and all , well every has their reasons for buying and not buying memberships.
and Nauzhoor , what are you stupid?
Did you guys even read the first post? I know it's NOT too expensive , I said for the benefits you get as a member $30 seem like a lot.
And Warlightvet , not necessarily
Giving more benefits (Not in game) to members would actually make the membership WORTH the $30s. As for that your equation of "More benefits for members = Fewer benefits for F2P" , that's ridiculous , I don't mean revoking some rights or benefits of F2P , just having something extra for the membership so that it's worth buying.
And who says there has be a balance between F2P and P2P , there will practically be no balance between the two ways of playing ever as long as extra benefits are being provided to those who pay , what I wish to know is WHY NOT MORE benefits for the members , making the membership worth it?.

And yeah ARC-77 I understood that when Min34 gave me a link to another forum post yesterday.

@ps , I want to say nothing else , same as what I just said to Arc.

But what you're forgetting is that Warlight is absolutely free to the vast majority of the players, we're not bombarded with advertisements, and Fizzer is putting on the whole thing by himself, with the meager support of the minority of people that pay for lifetime membership.

Also, contrary to almost every other PTP/FTP game out there, at the end of the game, whether you win or lose has NOTHING to do with how much money you've given Fizzer.

Paying for membership 1) supports an awesome site, and 2) unlocks some neat features.

Those are my priorities, and why I've already bought memberships for 2 other player's I've met online only.... one of them was my girlfriend (that I've never met), and she's dead now... but back to my story....

So, if you feel like you've spent more than 10 hours on the site already, that's $3/hour for entertainment. Go find something else to do that cheaper other than going to your public library.

Quit the B*tching, and support the site rather than complain.

If you have ideas on how to make the site better, start a Uservoice and Promote it.

Who is whining about it?
I'm not even complaining about anything , you ACTUALLY think I don't realize ALL THAT already? Have you even read ANYTHING of what I've replied to other people here? Honestly?

Price fopr membership is very resonable for what you get. Warlight is the only game i have purchased membership on for this reason. Fizzzer could get away with raising it to $40 but the current price is nothing to complain about.

How many times do I say it , the only thing I have problems with is the fact that members don't have enough benefits , I want to buy the membership too and hell I can afford it -_-"
but the $30 seem like a lot for benefits so less.

I don't think $30 is too much (I spent $60 on Diablo 3 and would sell it in a heartbeat if I could...thanks blizzard for having it on lockdown).

I am fine with the features of membership. All I want is that mobile client on iOS.

If warlight memberships could be lower they would! How ever you want to think about it here are the facts.

-Fizzer, the game creator is a 1 man team.

-Form what I know warlight is far from bringing in big profit.
Maybe Breaking even; with small margin for error.

-30$ U.S dollars maybe a lot for a country were money value is lower then the U.S dollar.

But to be faire WarLight membership price targets a certain age range.

-ideally WarLight is not for young kid with no idea how to manage money.

But if your interested in buying a membership and money is the problem you can save up. If you cut out 1 dollar a day; form buying lunch, in a month bingo.

Hope this helps

I feel that first off the price is more than fair (at least in my mind, considering all the enjoyment it has provided me). But I think Fizzer is missing out on a potential additional revenue source. There should be an option for a one year membership at say $9.99? For those that want to "try out" the advantages of membership without putting up $30. I don't think that it would negatively affect his membership sales as those that aren't worried about the $30 will also see the advantage to not paying twice for the same service, and those that would be interested in a 1 year membership weren't going to put out the $30 anyway. Perhaps even put in an incentive- say that if you decide to go for the lifetime membership within the year that your 1 year membership is active the $9.99 goes towards the cost of the lifetime? (haven't been closely following this thread, so if this has been previously hashed out my apologies)
