The villagers were weary. One by one, they'd seen their comrades struck down, but the last 24 hours in particular had been very tough to see; two of their members with special powers had both been taken, and they knew the end was nigh.
Hermes was treated with suspicion, but he did nothing to resist arrest when they came for him, and just slid forward with a vacant expression. Perhaps he had already, mentally at least, departed this earth?
And, sure enough, it did not take long for the village to find him guilty and condemn him to death, and he succumbed to death itself even quicker.
