Sorry if you're polish, but I'm not even going to bother to google translate and butcher your language. Maybe if Szew is gracious enough he can translate this paragraph for me.

Week 20. Wow. I'm stunned that we've been doing this for almost half a year now. Even though I don't think I say it enough, I am grateful that you guys have stuck with us and watched even through some of our difficulties. I'm glad you guys have enjoyed this as much as I have. I'm also a bit happy that we will be bringing some of the core polish players over to join us for a weekend, as I understand they were some of the first to start on Warlight.

The Ultimate Teamplayer has started Week #3, nothing very substantial has occurred, our backlog is improving and we'll soon begin broadcasting that.

The Shortlist Round Robin will be happening again this week Friday, you can check the time down there. We'll be hosting an anonymous round robin with these players:

Timinator, Heyheuhei, Frankdeslimste, Huruey, 13CHRIS37, and Artham

The template has not yet been decided for that.

Good luck this week!

Here's the templates for this week:

1v1: http://warlight.net/MultiPlayer?TemplateID=272877 Big Poland 1v1
2v2: http://warlight.net/MultiPlayer.aspx?TemplateID=255104 Szeuropa 2v2

Big thanks to all of you for watching and helping out and good luck this week!

Times & Dates: 12:00PM US/Central @ February 2nd, 2012 (1v1)
12:00PM US/Central @ February 3rd, 2012 (2v2)
4:00PM US/Central @ February 5th, 2012 (Coffee Break)
12:30 PM US/Central @ February 8th 2012 (SLRR)

Methods of joining:

The easiest way to join this tournament is to post here. You will be thrown into my invite list directly, and be thrown into the total count of participants. This will help me gauge how many people will be playing and how big to make the tournament.

There are two other ways to join. I will be making a "Lobby" to test whether or not the participants signed up are active. This will show up in the tourney listings. So either you can be invited to it, or join it outright.

Lobby:

Even if you post here and get thrown on my invite list your spot is not guaranteed. You have to prove to me you're on at that time. I will be inviting everyone I know on Warlight into this "Lobby", to guarantee your spot you must join that tourney.

Disqualifications:

You may be disqualified from ever entering the tournament again if you:

1. Fail to join the actual tournament.
2. Get booted during the actual tournament.

It is up to the host's discretion.

Commentators:

Currently, Mythonian, Kcscrag, and I are the hosts. We have 2 official expert commentators named Dunga and Szeweningen. We also have 2 official support commentators named Reza and x. If you're interested in becoming a commentator (especially useful when one of us doesn't feel up to doing it), invite me to a game or add me on skype at Lolowut. You must have skype in order to become a commentator, I'm not willing to play around with unfamiliar programs. Only things you'll have to prove to me is that you have enough knowledge of 1v1 and in some cases 2v2 in order to accurately analyze a game, and not have a boring voice.

Q/As

Q: What happens if we don't get a nice number of people that would make the brackets logical?

A: Everyone who joined the Lobby will be thrown into the actual tournament, if the number of people is greater than the bracket, then it becomes a contest of joining fastest. I'm not willing to set up byes and odd brackets and host the tourney through invited games. Sorry, just the way I run it.

Q: Who hosts the stream or tournament if none of the hosts(Lolowut, Mythonian, Kcscrag) can?

A: Anyone can host it. I'm sure if I'm unable to host it I'd be willing to give you tips on how to do it. The stream requires a great computer, so be careful.

Q: I don't have a great voice and speak English terribly, but I do want to help the analysis, how do I do so?

A: Add Mythonian or I on skype. Me @ Lolowut and Myth @ Mythonian. We both have skype up during the tourney and can get your thoughts conveyed.

Q: I signed up, but I'm not getting invited. Why?

A: If you were disqualified from entry ever again, I've invited you to a game and informed you. Plead your case, I may be willing to let you back in.

These 1v1 tournaments are too long. What about doing two 8-player tournaments rather than one for 16 players? It gives many possibilities:

-If both tournaments end reasonably early, the standard real-time final game between both winners can be arranged. If not, it can be made multiday. Or not at all.
-When you have 24 players, you can make 3 tournaments. As 3-players RRs suck, you just announce all 3 of them winners. Just for the show you can also make a game between 2 of them, choosen by viewers, or take the 2 who finish first.
-Seeding. You can choose 2 or 4 (3 or 6) favourites and distribute them evenly to the tournaments, then add the rest of the players randomly. This one seems like too much work though.

do you realise how stupid your first point is? do you know what a 16-player tournament is? it is simply 2 8 player tournaments where the top 2 play each other in the final!
The idea of seeding is decent, but it is interesting to get high seeding first round matches, if not the first part of the stream would be very boring, also by the final there are usually 2 high quality players (or at least good) since you cannot easily win that many matches in a row to get to the final by luck, maybe the first 2, but not all of them.

We're not here to ridicule ideas Hedja.

I don't see how this will speed things up at all. Controlling seeds also won't speed things up. If you wish to complain about the length of the 1v1 tournaments, then I fear for what you think of the length of the 2v2 tournaments.

Autoboot for 1v1 is 5 minutes.
Autoboot for 2v2 is 8 minutes.

The average speed for the 1v1 tournaments has been somewhere around 2 hours and 30 minutes to 3 hours

The average speed for the 2v2 tournaments has been somewhere around 3 hours to 3 hours and 30 minutes. That is, with the exception of the round robin we did that lasted 4 hours.

Round Robins make long events, always seem to be 4 hours +. However, a 64 people single elimination 1v1 tournament did not exceed 4 hours.

It has little to do with changing the tournament structure when we have 8, 16, 32, or 64 people playing. You make a valid point on the 24 person, that would be faster.

What it mostly has to deal with is the template. If it's a map that not many people know, they spend time trying to learn it. If it's inherently a large map, then it takes awhile to play. If it's a map people are familiar with, and is small, the tournament goes quite quickly. (Turkey 1v1 does not fit both of these profiles for everyone, therefore is just about as quick as Strat ME)

If you wish for us to speed up the tournaments, all I can do is ask if you have a template other than Strat ME that most people will be familiar with and is quick. If you have one, suggest it. If not, then I apologize that the tournaments are not quick enough for you.

Hedja, I have no idea what your problem with my first point is.

Lolowut, I'm not here to complain, but to suggest an improvement. The majority of your 1v1 tournaments end under 3 hours and that's great. But some of them don't. That's when playing in them is not fun anymore. I was in the finals four times, some of them ended after midnight for me, I know what I'm talking about. And that's when having an option of playing the final game multi-day would be nice. Hey people, options are good!
Sure, the same effect would be achieved by putting no autoboot, but get two inactive people to play each other in the first round and you are screwed.
I also should clarify one thing: the purpose of it is not to make the tournaments shorter, but less tiring for the players. When tournamets drag for over 4 hours, most of the viewers don't care anymore, commentators take a break and eventually stop streaming without analysing the final, but the players have no choice, they have to play real-time. The final is supposed to be the best game, right? It requires concentration, right?

If I'm really the only person who thinks that your tournaments sometimes drag for too long then whatever, ignore me. I just suggested a way to get around it.

As for 2v2 tournaments, I'm not a teamplayer, I don't know, I don't care.

I know that it's hard work carried out by you guys, and we are all thankful for it.

And some final words: English is not my native language (hell, it's not even my secondary), so if anyone finds my posts blunt/offending/what else, that wasn't intended and I'm sorry for this.
