This idea came to me when I realised in team games I tend to either follow orders or give them. This causes team games to often (not always) be decided by the strongest player from either side. A team in my eyes should only be as strong as its weakest link not its strongest. Therefore I propose a tournament in which all private and team chat is banned testing a teams blind synergy.

Clearly this would rely in a large part on trust as even if there were a way to disable private and team chat we would need to trust there wasn't communication elsewhere. I cant stop people from cheating but I believe that any team that would resort to that would likely not be good enough to beat many of the potential teams playing by the rules.

Featherbucket - It is true that in many games, a team is dominated by a leader, sometimes to an extent where the whole team is a puppet circus of the one player, but forbidding chat at all would not promote best, because teamplay requires chat for coordination. I bet that tournament would be won by either team cheating by chatting elsewhere, or players who are extremely experienced in playing in the exact same team, and sort of naturally understand each other.. unfortunately i doubt it would be the latter, because team able to chat would be in a great advantage..

I like the idea, but like they said, practically I'm not sure you could trust teams to actually do that.

Better idea to get around this small problem.

Most people will remember Lolowut's Live toruny where everyone had random names and new accounts, so no-one knew who was who.
This would work for the game, as long as it was a group of trustworthy people who wouldn't go around telling everyone who they were and asking who the other animals are.

If you wish to try this out I would be very happy to, only thing I care about is low luck.

Also you can look at your team-mate's orders, meaning though it isn't completely coordinated, you can see they will gift or airlift to you etc.

Hedja - even if the multiaccounts were named the same, it would still be possible to cheat, so that doesn't change anything i guess.. after triple pick tournament i lost all trust in people playing fair here..

Well, I for one wouldn't cheat. It sounds like a good idea and one I would like to see pan out truthfully (out of curiosity). If you do it, make the game practice so there is nothing to gain from cheating.

You should just make a tournament with a select number of players, tell them the rules, and assume that they will honour them. The honour system is the only way it would ever work without some team or another cheating somehow. Also, I'd like to sign up with Aranka.

i disagree, i think that the whole point of team games is to play as a team. for example, if you don't know what to do you can consult with your teammates. and if you need airlift or gift, you have to say that.

Brisk makes a good point. You do require communication to do well in a team game - the problem is when the best player TELLS his team what do to. It turns a 3v3 into a 3v1 (with a strong 1). I think perhaps a more fair team game should have other games where the public chat is the team chat (to check for cheating), and where teams cannot tell each other what to do, but to communicate normally and so on. However, a way players learn in team games is by a stronger teammate giving tips; these tips will inevitably tell the player a better order. Saying all of this, I'd love to play Featherbucket's idea as it sounds like it will be great fun.

Sorry doggy, I wrote a reply last night and I thought I had posted it, but seems not. I shall try to regurgitate it.

If someone were to create 6 new accounts with names not linked to anything (for example 1,2,3,4,5,6) and then told 6 random people what the email and what the password was, and then created a 3vs3 of 1 + 2 + 3 vs 4 + 5 + 6, then you could get team-mates who do not know who is who, and play without talking. I would also suggest no talking in public chat, as then they no-one knows who anyone is, from tell-tale signs of how they say hello, if they complain (about luck :) ) so everyone is none the wiser.

However you could just play games with people's main accounts so they know who they are and expect them to not say anything, the reason the choose your opponents picks tourny didn't work was because there were too many noobs, who to be honest don't care if they break the rules some random guy said.

My answer earlier was better, but can't be bothered to write that much again.

Also if we are using main accounts I will pair up will Doggy if he will take me :)

Sorry Aranka, I just thought that we would be really good together on this variation, because of our unspoken psychic connection. Don't you feel it too?
