No offense to any other-language speakers or the languages themselves, but English is undeniably becoming the most useful language in the world. While it is the second most spoken language (I'm not really sure that Mandarin counts in the same way, as most all speakers live in China),it is by far the most common second language, which I believe is the true indicator of how significant a language is/is becoming worldwide. For example, until recently, the language of the UN was French for political reasons, but the number of UN members who already spoke English was so much higher than other languages that they had to change it.

Of course, I am not at all trying to say that learning other languages is at all useless, as I believe that learning a second or third language is very important to society. I am also not trying to say that English is the simplest language. It is not called "the language of exceptions" for nothing. However, I believe that it is undeniable that English, for whatever reason is becoming/has become the dominant language on this planet.

Also, I actually understand where ps is coming from, although I believe he is taking much too hard of a stance. Frankly, I am equally upset by Naomi's comment, as it is true that people are not always nice. In fact, niceties are probably the less common end of the spectrum, and that is just a fact of life.

Anyway, ps, I understand what you are trying to say, and I agree that English would be good to learn, but it can not be learned at the snap of fingers, it takes years to learn well. I would much rather have him speaking French than speaking in cryptic like HHH (no offense to him). However, I think it is only respectful to the community to utilize some translation device.

This is why english speaking countries are terrible at speaking other languages:it's becuase we expect the whole world to adapt to our english speaking needs and such a thing is hypocritical ps since you say:

well ps you should get used to the fact that other people speak other languages and btw the french are proud of their language probably why he is hesitant to learn english.
However he can play with francophone players and francophone groups.

I was just trying to say that as an entirely US born and raised person, it's really disappointing watching my classmates bs their foriegn language saying that 'oh, English is already universal, why would I need another language?' I do kind of get tired of that mindset, and it's caused me to start getting edgy when I see it. (bad associations with said classmates) I really believe that Americans should be reaching out and trying to learn other countries' languages just as much as they expect others to learn English. Not saying we're the only ones at fault here.. but we do seem by far the laziest about it.

So again, sorry for offending you. Yesterday was a really off day.

It wasn't that you offended me, but thanks for apologizing anyway XD. I just tend to be sort of, I guess upset isn't quite the right word, some lighter version of that, when people start talking about how unequal the world is (Yes I have a moderate right-wing bias)
