Something like Eastern Asia, but maybe a tiny bit smaller (300-500 regions?) so it's suitable for 4v4 or 5v5 but not so annoying like Asia.

Thanks a lot.

I'll buy you a beer.

If you live in Stockholm. Peace.

I'm not sure if it's quite what you are looking for, but I recently started working on a Huge Earth map. It's going to take a lot of work so it will be while before I manage to finish it. It's more in the range of 500-1000 territories.

It's not exactly what I'm looking for, but it'll definitely satisfy me, as I'm mostly playing 5v5 with friends, so a big map is what I need! Although 1000 territories could be a game lasting 3 or more hours, I'm not sure if that won't be more tiring than fulfilling... But I wish you good luck! There's not enough of good maps... :-)

Give us some ideas, then :D

Also, try the big Poland map by rashaz.

I'm trying to make a map myself, but I'm having some difficulties since I'm new to inkscape. When I draw out "objects" territories, and close them off, I can't seem to name them different things. Whatever ID I put on one is applied to every object I make. Otherwise my main trouble is matching up borders of the territories when they're not straight lines. I only have a mouse to draw with, so I'm not terribly accurate and have to use nodes to make it look neat. Does anyone know how to get around this?

Frederick, I posted a small script to automatically set ids of elements in another thread. I can't seem to find it now, but I have the code saved:

r=File.open('read from this file.svg').read
r.gsub!('id="path', 'id="Territory_')
File.open('write to this file.svg', 'w').write r

You have to install Ruby interpreter, save the code above as something.rb, change the filenames in the code, put it in the same folder as map SVG and run it.

The other thing you're talking about is probably unfixable - you just have to deal with it, or try using Inkscape's Path -> Inset/Outset options together with some clever path dividing.

Good tip MR; yes Fred create a linked offset, adjust the distance appropriately (at a really high zoom), convert the object back to a path, and delete any extra nodes. perfectly adjacent borders every time, although I've only done it once (my map is in the very, very early stages)

Could explain it more precisely, mindgrapes, please?
I would really like to get those "perfectly adjacent borders every time", but I didn't really understand your method.

Should I use linked offset on complete territory or just one path that is a border between two territories?
I assumed the second one, but then linked path is closing itself and pretty much complicates everything..

And when does any path change to object (as I have to change it back...)?

Ok, looks like I should assume first version:
1. Make territory
2. Create linked offset
3. Make it slightly bigger than original
4. Make it a path
5. Brake it into few paths, one for every adjacent territory

yep! sorry for the lack of clarity -- i had done it the second way and just deleted extra nodes, but your way is better

alternatively, you could leave a small amount of open space between each bonus -- about the width of the lines -- and just fudge the borders. this space will be filled by the background and create a similar effect (particularly if the map is large anyway) with a LOT less work than what we've been talking about. That's how the east asia map was done I think.
