Is there any way to remove the flag from my profile?

I clicked everywhere and didn't find a option to do it. And by the way: i didn't provide any information about where i am from to this page. So it has to be a guess based on my IP or something ... I don't even have to be from that country ...
I can't imagine why it should be ok to make any information about me public, that i don't want to have to be public and that isn't neccessary to play here (like playing statistics) aaand might not be true.

If i didn't overread that option i have two questions to the maintainers of the page:

1. Please make a button to hide this flag <- that would be really great!
2. Please don't show flags based on location, but on provided nationality by the user

Big thanks!

No and Fizzer won't reply to you. Sorry but it's been brought up before.

And response came there none.

Yes, this is a violation of your private data.

Yes, Fizzer ignored this before, when it was brought up by some players including me right after he introduced those flags.

Yes, this most likely is a violation of law by Warlight creator.
Especially against people who bought the membership before this update.

I'd be surprised if posting such trivial information as the country (or US state) where your IP is located would be illegal. Gives no real personal information away.

Never mind the fact that countless users have been clamoring for this feature for years now...

Oh I'm sure it's not illegal, and I am also sure most people want it.

I'm also sure Fizzer isn't going to change it.

Though it's a bit annoying that I don't let Facebook say where I live/am but I have to show everyone on warlight. - Then again I don't use my real name here ... so it's not quite the same.

Fairly certain that it would be illegal if you had to show your name, but the country from where you are playing? I'm unsure that would be violating freedom of speech, because he is still anonymous no?

Come on guys, are you really this paranoid? Do you really think that something bad is going to happen now that we have narrowed your real identity down to one of (at least) several million people? How is that privacy violation?

In fact, let me give you the street I live: Wildforster. That street lies in Ede, which is in Gelderland, which is in The Netherlands, which is in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. OMGOMGOMG now terrorists are going to find me and kidnap me!

Flags are a nice gimmick that has been requested for ages, because it's fun to see where everyone's from. And if someone really wanted to know stuff about you using the internet there's way easier and more accurate methods for that.

Violating freedom of speech? Huh? In the words of swe, that makes zero sense.

In the states at least, internet anonymity is protected as freedom of speech against the majority.

Have no idea which country Warlight is based out of though, or even if internet related laws are determined by country of origin (I suspect such is the case, mainly due to always watching copyrighted movies etc. on foreign sites).

But Moros ... it doesn't tell you were you are from, it says where you are. A big difference.

I think some people would just like the choice to show it or hide it, that option would please both those who want it and those who don't surely?

Ska, you just ignored my other arguments. I don't understand what the big deal is with making the country you're located in public.

I wasn't arguing with you Moros, I just pointed out that that bit was wrong.

Then I said that giving people choice would solve this issue well for everyone. :)

Anyway, I think that fizzer should add option to hide/change the flag (and it shouldn't be too hard). However, many people wanted this feature. :)

There is no way this is illegal. I personally like it myself. Why do people care if everyone knows what country you are in anyway?

Chris, for all the Americans using the site, it goes further and shows the state. What next? The county? City? Perhaps the address of my house?

I can completely understand the outrage.

There was a player, PapiFranzibazuka, who deactivated his WarLight account just because of this very feature, sure in most countries you would disappear in anonymity but he lives in a very small country, just 44 hectares big.
