Map of the week

How it works
Schedules:
•Sunday to Wednesday - Map nominations, only one per player.
•Thursday to Saturday - The judges will discuss, review and vote on the deservable winner.
•Saturday evening I will write up the results. (GMT +1)

Rules for nominations:
•Only one nomination allowed from a player per week.
•The first 6 maps nominated will be voted on. Any others won't be counted.
•2nd-6th will be discarded from nominations for a month.
•A player cannot nominate their own map.
•The winning map of a week can obviously never be nominated again.

Rules for judges:
•A judge is expected to look over all 6 nominated maps and decide which map they like the most.
•Each judge posts their top 3 maps in order. 1st map equals 3 votes, 2nd equals 2 votes and 3rd equals 1 vote.
•If a judges map has been nominated, they cannot vote for that week.
•A judge cannot nominate there own map.

I think I'm going to ask some players if they want to be judge. But feel free to nominate yourself for the position. I need 2 good strategists and 2 good mapmakers.

As the 2nd, shortly to be the first biggest map maker and one of the longest running Warlight players here I would like to be a judge.

If you need to state your self-proclaimed reputation, that reputation doesn't exist, Skunk.

Using that logic, those who send in a resume have no resume.

I think Incaman and Skunk both belong on the judge panel. RA would also be a good judge.

Except that logic isn't supposed to be applied to resumes.

rep·u·ta·tion
ˌrepyəˈtāSH(ə)n/
noun
noun: reputation; plural noun: reputations

the beliefs or opinions that are generally held about someone or something.
"his reputation was tarnished by allegations that he had taken bribes"
a widespread belief that someone or something has a particular habit or characteristic.

If you have to post about your reputation it doesn't exist because it's not widespread. One of the characteristics of having a reputation means that people generally think that of you. A resume is a summation of skills and an a declaration of an objective. It has nothing to do with the general opinion everyone has of you, rather showing that you meet the criteria that the job poster is looking for.

Yes and no, dictionary definitions and the way the words are used interchangeably in conversation can impact the overall meaning of a statement.

Arun said Skunk was stating his "self-proclaimed reputation" when in fact he was sharing his resume and that by doing so his reputation, which was a resume, did not exist. I think by that logic, stating your resume would effectively nullify your resume's validity or existence. Perhaps I should have said reputation instead of resume so as to be clear, but that would have sounded repetitive and effectively been pointless to say in the first place.

Clearly Arun is not Japanese. It was not uncommon for Samurai to shout their ranks and achievements (i.e. self-proclaimed reputation/resume) on the battlefield to entice worthy opponents to challenge them. I think Arun's logic would prove wasted on them.

Also, reputation can be part of a resume, particularly when you have made several notable achievements which haven't been heard of for whatever reason. A resume is not only a summation of skills, but also a chance to boast of ones own reputation. In a global world where someone from Europe applies for a job in the US it is pivotal to boast of one's own reputation (though backing it up with references helps of course).

But yeah, I get where you're coming from Lolowut. I just think calling out on someone for sharing their achievements is tasteless (unless its Gnuffles).

But you must rise the facts to the attention of others so that reputation can form and become widespread. After something can't be well known by all until someone tells it to begin with.

Ursa Luna; obviously well rated, yet you hardly ever see anyone actually play it. My favourite map.
